Great Service, Good Food, and Clean. I always like to view the lichen when I can. They are doing a great job keeping food prep areas clean. The server we had was very attentive to our needs. The Destin Red was awesome!!
I have visited twice for lunch. I had the fish tacos on my second visit and I wasn’t disappointed. Both times the food was great. I think the price is slightly high for a lunch but average for the area. I would refer this place to a friend.
Scallops Supreme. Some of the best and friendliest service I have had at a Destin area restaurant. One server was handling our table of ten along with other tables and he was right on top of things. Absolutely the best fried scallops I have ever eaten . . . . including a number of seafood restaurants in the Charleston (South Carolina) area. Although small, the scallops are melt-in-your-mouth tender, slightly sweet with a very light seasoning . . . and most importantly, no dirt or grit on any of them. The fried shrimp were also better than the other seafood establishments we have tried in Destin and the 25 ounce draft beer at $4.50 is a great value. The fresh catch of the day was grouper and was excellent: thick, flaky fish fillet with a light seasoning. Normally I don’t like or eat hushpuppies, but these were exceptionally good: slightly sweet and crispy with a nice soft center. However, the crab cakes were average at best (due primarily to a sub-par sauce that accompanies them); the burger is definitely not the best in Destin as advertised (Five Guys will bury this one); and the over-hyped Creamy Parmesan Crab and Shrimp Dip was a disappointment with the parmesan flavor and bread crumbs overpowering the crab and shrimp flavors. It is on my list of restaurants to return to, and rest assured I will be ordering the fried scallop platter with hopefully an appetizer of fried pickles, which was a special the evening we were there but unfortunately not on their regular menu (and as good as they were, they definitely should be).
Not their best effort!!!. Really disappointed. We got there on a Thursday (10/10) night at 6:30 looking forward to sitting on the harbor eating seafood. Before we could get in the door we were told that the place was short staffed and to expect long waits. NOT what I wanted to hear bringing my family in. I understand that the area is crowded and I even heard from some places that they had not expected the crowds from the fall breakers at school. However, EVERY other place we went seemed to staff accordingly. Many even extended their normal hours to accomadate the larger crowds. Not this place.Everytime I have been to Gilligan’s it was iffy food with a great seat and view of the harbor. Not any more.
Parking: I don’t know why those below complained about the parking… It is what it is… Get over it !! Plus that normally means good food !!Food : We had the special plates of fish & shrimp… Good, hot food & plenty of itSeating: We sat on the outdoor deck oveokking the harbor which had a great sea breeze.Service: Good, responsive & respectful
Last year we came here, we thought the food was good. The hush puppies with the sweet butter was outstanding and we enjoyed the food. It was not bad this year, but we missed the sweet butter with the hush puppies. I was sad sad about that.
Great food, Great service. The food was GREAT!! It was our first time and we were a little skeptical after reading the reviews but it was Great!! We were visiting from Northwest Arkansas. We ate the all u can eat popcorn shrimp and catfish, they were both lightly breaded and very good. My husband had the raw oysters and he he loved them. The food wasn’t greasy or heavy at all. The prices were very reasonable! And the service was great also, if you go ask for Tony! He was great! He kept our drinks full and kept bringing more fish and shrimp until we told him we were done. He was very polite and helpful!! We would definitely go again and highly highly recommend it to families and all!! Our kids loved it as well!:)
