Nice little place to relax with a cold beer after a long day of fishing. The baked jalapeno oysters are awesome. The live music is ok in the background. It’s always been just a guy with a guitar, mike, and a drum tract player.
The service is very nice but kind of slow, but you’re in Destin! There’s no real need to be in a hurry for us at least. The food was well worth the wait. The oysters are delicious and reasonably priced. Will be back on our next visit.
Great place to get a beer and get some fresh seafood on the water. We just go here for lunch or snacks, so Iam not sure about the rest of it. That is why Ididn’t go higher. Also, there are some great guys behind the bar that will let you try alltypes of different things from sushi torandom seafood. 10x better than Dewey’s with much better service. I don’t understand how this place is ranked 3.6 currently. Totally nuts.
DISAPPOINTING VISIT. Our visit to the Boathouse was the low point of our Destin vacation. The food was mediocre, the service very slow and the manager extremely rude. We ordered oysters for our appetizers and they arrived after we had finished our entrees. The server acted like he had done us a great favor when he finally brought the oysters to the table. We were just glad he showed up at all since he spent most of his time behind the bar talking and drinking with his co-workers. If you are from out of town, be forewarned that they do not readily take out of town debit or credit cards. Not exactly a best business practice for a tourist town. This caused a lot of problems for families on the night that we visited and we saw folks that had to go outside to the ATM to get cash to pay. Given the number of times this happened, I really wonder if they were doing this on purpose to avoid paying credit card fees. Do yourself a favor and stay away from the Boathouse. Go one block further to AJ’s. Better food, good service and tourist friendly.
Food is great, the manager is beyond incredibly rude. Also their credit card machine is broken and they apparently won’t take cards from out of state.
Destin Favorite. This is one of my favorite spots in Destin. The atmosphere is great, having all the things that people need after a day on the beach, waterfront view, live music and fresh oysters.
Get the bucket, don’t buy beer individually. Trust me!
