A Birthday to Remember Pork Belly Steak & Rack of Lamb paired with fantastic Chateauneuf Du Pape delightfully met our pallets on the evening of my birthday. Working as a concierge at the Sandpearl Resort I referred many people to the Black Pearl restaurant on the suggestions of another concierge. Until Wednesday, I did not have the pleasure of a true understanding of the complexity of the experience. We were offered a warm welcome from Shawn, also our server, as we entered this tiny gem of a restaurant merely three tables wide and four to five tables deep. The lighting, the ambiance, and Shawns voice lured us into a dream like state of comfort and relaxation. The wine knowledge and selection process Shawn guided us through led us to the Chateauneuf Du Pape which was both light and full of flavor at the same time. Small slivers of bread with homemade oils and herbs were delightful and not too filing. The warm poppy seed dressing on their Black Pearl Salad was fantastic. We were told that so many other patrons agreed, they now sell the dressing by the bottle. The entrees were presented fabulously. I always say, You eat with your eyes first. The Pork Belly Steak consisted of a quality chorizo inside pork belly, wrapped in bacon. The smoky flavors and seasonings serenade each other as you enjoy each bite. My Rack of Lamb was out of this world cooked perfectly to medium rare push. The sear on the outside of the lamb was perfect and the brandied demiglace was extraordinary. A sweet finish of homemade chocolates infused with orange brought our meal to a conclusion. Shawn made us feel like royalty and we left in a state of euphoria from the experience. My normally penny-wise boyfriend is already talking about going back. Lack of food quality and service from many of our local chain restaurants has left us unsatisfied on too many occasions. Skip that weekly trip to your neighborhood chain restaurants. Instead, go monthly to the Black Pearl. The experience will feed your soul and your belly beyond what you could ever expect.
The Black Pearl is the best restaurant around! The Lobster Risotto is to die for. The ambiance is small, quaint and amazing! It’s a great place to celebrate a special occasion or just spontaneously treat yourself to the best meal you will every have! My husband and I love it here and can’t wait to go back soon!
