Completely horrible. I had a two meat dinner tonight and it was so so bad, my ribs were not good quality, I had bones in my pulled pork, the baked beans were just bad and the coleslaw was slop. This was the worst dining experience I ever had. They had ice tea, I think it was ice tea..so horrible we had to pour it down the bathroom sink and didn’t even have a lid on their tea, raised prices from the original place and get this…a no refund sign at check out. Wtf is that, so horrible. Save your money and go somewhere else.
BJ Alabama BBQ is amazing! They give good size portions at an affordable price. It’s all in the sauce. Instead of pouring a pound of sugar in their BBQ sauce they make an authentic vinegar base. Definitely worth the trip (:
Not Good. As a native of Alabama, a co-worker and I decided to give Big John’s Alabama BBQ a try. While the staff was friendly, the service was terribly slow. I ordered the pork dinner with macaroni salad and baked beans. The pork was 95% fat. I tried to pick as much meat out as I could, but there wasnt much (maybe four bites). The macaroni salad tasted store-bought. The baked beans were good with a nice brown sugar flavor. However, I left feeling extremely unsatisfied due to having a plate full of fat with BBQ sauce drizzled on it. I ended up throwing it away. I will never eat here again. First Choice BBQ in Brandon is much better…and its not even close. Sadly.

Love…love…love. We are …. Love…love…love.We are from the south but live in the north and we always come here. Every single thing at this place is so yummy finger licking good. They give u so much food and it is even better the next day. They make everything from scratch and always give u plenty maybe a lil more. The only thing that i personaly dont like is the pot salad.
Favorite in TB. Because of the sauce being so zesty, and the coleslaw sweet and creamy, makes it her choice in Tampa Bay along with Lupton’s. I choose First Choice Southern BBQ and again along with Lupton’s as my most favorite.
It’s the sauce. Finally had the chance to try some Big John’s que. Had a center cut rib dinner with potato salad and beans. Potato salad wasn’t bad but lacked seasoning. Beans also lacked seasoning and a tad too sweet for my tastes. The ribs had a decent smoke flavor but had not been cooked long enough and I had to tug and gnaw to get some of the meat off. But…I loved the sauce. I loved it so much I came back later and got a slab of ribs to go, sauce on the side. Then I cooked the ribs more at home in the oven. Perfect!
