Amazing Food!. The old saying that you can’t judge a book by it’s cover certainly applies here. What’s lacking in decor is definitely made up for by the consistently awesome food.In over 30 years of being a customer I have never left hungry or disappointed!
VERY BEST PIZZA IN JAX. Luigi’s is run by relatives of the former owner of Nick’s Pizza in Jacksonville Beach. Nicks closed about 15 years ago after DECADES as an institution. I went to Nicks as often as I could since 1960 … finding Luigi’s is better than finding an old lost dog … the pizza is superb. Who cares about the decor or lack thereof?
GREAT FOOD AND SERVICE. I have no idea what Kristen Kidd-Barnhart had in mind when she wrote her review, but I couldn’t disagree more. We ordered a specialty pizza and the first bite was reminiscent of Nick’s pizza, my favorite place to eat 48 years ago. Not even Joseph’s on Main Street comes close (although I heard they did many years ago). The restaurant is typical Italian decor and clean. The service was better than excellent and everyone was friendly. The young lady who served us (there were five of us) boxed our leftovers individually with each of our names on them. I’ve never had that kind of service before. Needless to say, I can’t say enough good things about our dining experience and we will return frequently.
Not Closed. Luigi’s is not closed. They are normally very steady at 7pm on a Friday night. They are closed on Saturday and Sunday, so if you were stopped in on those two nights, then yes, you saw a dark building with no cars in the parking lot.
They are still open for business and they have the best Italian food. I have been going there since I was a kid.
Remember Nick’s Pizza. The chef’s at Luigi’s are the same family that operated Nick’s in Jacksonville Beach. They were the first pizza restaurant in north Florida in 1948.The spaghetti w/meat sauce and meatballs if fabulous, and the pizza is excellent
Best Itaian Food I had. I am Italian, and I am a great critic of food , and a cook myself. I must say Luigi’s is is one of the best places I go out to when I am not cooking home. It’s funny, out of all the reviews, the only bad review is from the couple Kristen Kidd-Barnhart . And the only reason for that is they are the ones with no taste buds! The revues speak for themselves. I have been going there for the past 21 years since I moved here from New York. I know good food when I taste it! I highly recommend this Establishment . Looks are deceiving, but not the Quality of food. —- Joseph Buscemi —-
