15 Years of Being the best!. If you are looking for the most exciting little place for your taste buds Taste of Thai is a must! I first started going to this cozy place in 1997 and never missed a week. Unfortunately my job took me from New York, San Fransisco and Atlanta. I ate at many Thai places trying to duplicate the experience at Taste of Thai but never found a place like it! I recently moved back in 2012 and it is still run by Aurathai and her son Justin. They have a passion for what they do and it shows by how they treat their guests and they amazing food they produce. Since I have been back Jacksonville may have changed but one place that has always been consistently outstanding is Taste of Thai. They always make me feel at home. Ask for Justin if you want the best service and suggestions. and he isn’t hard on the eyes! 🙂 I have read some of the less than stellar reviews and I completely disagree and I brought this up to Aurathai and Justin. It endeared me to them even more by their response. They took a humble response and just simply stated that things can not always be perfect, but they will always try. If you check out any other site that Taste of Thai is reviewed on and you will notice that this tiny little restaurant packs a hell of a punch! You will always see it in the top tier of Thai places to eat and even in the top tier of reviewed restaurants. Period. Taste of Thai deserves all the accolades it has received. If you are just visiting from out of town. This place is a MUST! Here’s to 15 more stellar years!
By far the best Thai in Jax!. This place is so much better than any thai place around. Been eating here for at least 10 years and am continuously amazed. My favorites are chili oil, green curry and laab but have had at least a dozen of their dishes and they are all great. Great Thai food should be all about deep, complex but balanced, fresh flavors. These folks really understand that! Give ’em a try.
Amazing!. This is one of the best thai restaurants ive ever eaten at. i love the curry and tofu w/ peanut sauce. the staff is also very friendly.
Absolutely the worst Thai I have ever had. Very overpriced as well.The crispy spring rolls were dripping in grease, looked and tasted as if they were fried more than once. They were not fresh. The fried tofu was simply fried, no seasoning. The peanut sauce was swimming in oil, and clumpy.I have Thai from Chicago to Boston. This was awful. The price was double what I would have paid for better Thai elsewhere. I won’t be back. I literally threw the food in the trash. As it was not edible.
Super happy to find this place in Jacksonville! Found it on the maps app of my android and decided to test it out. When my husband and I got there we saw only one other person in the restaurant. after glancing over the menu we settled on two noodle dishes and steamed pot stickers for our meals. The pot stickers tasted home made (not some pre fab food distributor products ready to pop into a microwave). My husband even said if this was a clue to how our meal would taste we were in for a treat! We enjoy spicy food and always worry when we order hot that it will be mild. Taste of thai does not disappoint. There is hot and then there is the option for native thai hot. We both chose hot to guage where we should order our spiciness next time. It was perfect; a nice slow build up of spices that intensifies as the meal carries on. To say the least, we will definitely be back soon! Thank you for a delicious meal!!
Still Tasty Thai. Dropped in for lunch after many years after a doctor’s appointment. Same sweet waitress/owner whoever she is still serving, God bless her.Positives: Don’t know about dinner as seen on some review, but still serving good hot reasonably priced Thai lunches! Don’t be expecting Lemongrass, but you won’t be paying Lemongrass or Pattya Thai prices either. soup was hot, with plenty of noodles, along with a chicken and vegatable lunch plate, that was plenty, and nice and spicy as requested.Negatives: The egg roll that came with lunch special I picked was vegetarian, probably should have gotten pork, but other than this a good Taste of Thai at a good price .PS- Paid cash no debit card overcharged issues.Buddy
Excellent. I went there there service was outstanding and the food was great I wanted to try something new and that was my choice I will be there next regular ;-)!!! -Danielle
