Being a California girl, I am skeptical of claims of authentic Mexican food, but they nailed it with the Santa Fe enchiladas. The sauce was perfect, more like a mole sauce than the heavy red sauces favored by other restaurants. The California burrito was excellent, but needed more meat for the price. The chips were light and crispy, and the salsa fresh. The margaritas are not to be missed.

Been eating here for the better part of a decade. Delicious food, big portions; what more can you ask for? Santa Fe Enchiladas are the bomb!

I don’t get it!. I suppose there really aren’t many Mexican restaurants in Pensacola at all. That is the only excuse I can possibly think of for why people think this place is good: naivety . It is EXTREMELY overrated. I’m not even sure any actual Mexican/Mexican-Americans work at this place. I have been to the location on US 98 and the location in Pensacola Beach – both were the same. I ordered the tacos, one chicken, one pork, one beef. They were extremely bland. Very little flavor. You could tell that the chicken and probably the pork has been made for hours and is just sitting in water somewhere, as it was very wet, squishy, and left a lot to be desired. The chips and salsa were reasonable, but I don’t know how you could mess them up. Most of this food tasted like it was pre-made and was just reheated straight from a package or something. DEFINITELY not worth the price of admission. I am from Tennessee and usually eat Mexican (of the Tex Mex variety) 3 or 4 times a month and I have never had worse food. I understand this is not Tex Mex but California style Mexican, but I sincerely hope this is not the standard for California Mexican everywhere.

Wonderful Food. I am a regular at this restaurant and at the old location. The food is the best. I love the fish tacos. My only complaint over several years is often they are slow to refill the drinks. However I love this place to eat.

Cactus-Mex is really great Cal-Mex. As a Tex-Mex fan, I always looked a bit askance at Cal-Mex. But when I moved back to the Panhandle it became of obvious that the best to be had was Cactus-Mex. Originally a patron of the Twelfth Avenue Location, I visited the West Side iteration: It blows 12th Avenue away!I had the Chimichanga and my wife had the Tostadas: both were terrific. And we finished if off with the flan de leche. There is no better flan in this end of the world. If you enjoy great Mex food with a great presentation and really good service, run, don’ walk!

Great burrito but …. Loved the main meal, but was dismayed at the non-homemade chips. This place is so cute, waitstaff great, and as I said, the entrees were great, a place like this needs to up their game on the chips….Bagged chips have no place here, where everything else is so good.

Came here for the first time tonight and really enjoyed it. Travis is an excellent server and the food was excellent. We highly recommend the queso with pinto beans and the pork chimichanga. My boyfriend had the enchiladas and really enjoyed them also. The atmosphere was nice and quiet. All in all, we had a great evening and will be going back.
