I came for dinner with a large group, 10+ people. They put some tables together to make a long table to sit us all. The menu was Americanized and I tried to pick something not Americanized. So I had the shrimp with lobster sauce. By lobster sauce, they mean corn starch sauce with white pepper. As seen in the picture, there are about 4 shrimps with some cut up imitation crab meat and veggies. The shrimp wasn’t seasoned and overcooked. The dish was about as soupy as a stew. For $8.95, I guess I shouldn’t have high hope. Fun fact: I was waiting to pay my check at the counter. Some dude waiting for pick up and asked me to go check his order. I told him that I don’t work there and I was a customer. His friend tried to save the day and made a light heart comment about me knowing the best place to eat. I told him that I just moved here. A young couple in their early 20’s about 10 feet away giggled from their stereotyping comments. Pensacola, I am so glad that I am getting out of this place soon.
Delicious.. House Of Chong always provides quality, flavorful and delicious traditional (to American) Chinese dishes in an intimately quiet setting. It’s great for a date, family get together or with friends or your work get together.Don’t miss out on the best Cashew Chicken in the Gulf Coast area.
Just had another perfect meal! The best egg rolls ever, great won tons, pot stickers, sweet and sour chicken and moo goo gai pan. Fed 6 people with leftovers for $50! So good. So fresh. The best.07 Jul, 2013The best Chinese food anywhere. I can’t believe there are only 3 reviews. We drive from Daphne, AL to eat here! The best egg rolls and won tons on the planet and the entrees are all traditional, fresh and delicious. The waitresses are very hardworking and nice. One would never stop by this seriously dated restaurant without knowing beforehand and that’s a shame as they are missing out on a real treat.
Nostalgic. This one of my parents favorite places to eat ever since I can remember, and I joined them today for the buffet. It has probably been half a lifetime since I had been inside. Entering is like stepping back in time, and although the space is a bit drab and in need of some freshening, It is still fun. There are lots of choices on the buffet and toasted cashews and green onions can be added to any of the dishes. The meats are all tender, and this is just a great place to over indulge. My mom remembers having this food in the early 40s when she was a kid, so they are definitely a big piece of history.
Wonder. Am guessing this isn’t what used to be chongs garden is it?
