Excellent Indian cuisine. We’ve been to this restaurant 4 times now, and my wife and I have each tried something different each time. Every dish has been excellent, the Chicken Afghani and the Aloo Gobi Masala that we tried last night were perfect. When you go in, it’s obviously a small family-run place, which I like. The service has been very good, however the food does not come out quickly. It’s been worth the wait, everything tastes like it was just made to order for us. We finally have Indian restaurants in Pensacola, and all three places we’ve tried have been very good, but I prefer the food at this restaurant over the two Indian restaurants downtown.
Good But Slow. The food is always fresh, and always good but allow a lot of time for dinner. They aren’t breaking any service records. Again. it look nearly 10 minutes for someone to come to our table. Then another 20 for appetizers. Another 20 minutes for our dinner to arrive. They do not automatically refill your drink, you have to ask. They could use more people working there. I’m sure the slow service is why so few people were there on a Saturday night.10 Aug, 2014Tandoori Mixed Grill. Sizzling platter of onions, Tandoori Shrimp, Chicken, and Kebab. Like Indian Fajitas. Awesome!
Tikka, Tikka #1. My daughter and I frequent India Palace about once a month. I have eaten Indian cuisine from California to Jacksonville, and this place ranks in the top 2-3. We always start with tomato and lentil soup, both light and excellent with creamy, buttery texture. We also love the garlic naan, fluffy and chewy, great dipped in the riata (yogurt sauce). We can’t get enough of the mixed tandoor grill of chicken and shrimp, both cooked to pink perfection, with rich onions and tart green peppers steaming on the plate. Add a cold Indian brew or a luscious mango lassi to cut the spice/heat and you will be coming back for more. Service can sometimes be on the slow side, just relax and enjoy the Indian disco playing on the 1984 speakers and you’ll be all right!
Love it!. Don’t let the old Sonny’s decor fool you, this is the best Indian food in town, and the service is helpful and always friendly. Yum!
Beadrann. You know, I really don’t understand all of the negative reviews…We have been going to the India Palace since they opened & have never had a bad meal or service…No, the restaurant is not fancy & yes, it could use some sprucing up, but since I go for the food, it is not a big deal…The food is luscious! I personally prefer the Chicken Afghani, mild..I don’t do the hot..I bought the Manchurian Chicken, hot, & took it home & made a fabulous chicken veg soup..
So Long Buffet……… I have eaten here many times and have always been happy with the food. I have no idea if it is authentic but it is very tasty and fresh. As of last week they no longer offer the buffet at lunch. This was a bit of a disappointment in that I am not familiar with the dishes to be able to order what I had liked in the past. The difference in native languages between me and my server did not allow for adequate description. What I was served was good, but not what I had hoped for.
Great food…after 2 hours of waiting. First time eating at the Pensacola India Palace, will not be going back. My wife and I went for dinner and as soon as we walked in they seemed short staffed. Didn’t seem like a big deal since there wasn’t very many people there. We were wrong. After taking our order, we waited 1 hour and 23 minutes for our still frozen in the middle Samosa appetizer. We were going to just leave but decided to stick it out since we had already missed our movie because of the wait. After asking if our order was going to be out three times, we finally received our food at 2 hours and 7 minutes. It’s really too bad because the food was decent, my wife ordered the Malai Kofta and the pieces tasted like they were frozen and reheated. The Chicken Tikki Malsala was good and the naan was good. When I asked to speak to the manager about it, the waiter told me he was very busy in the back and just disregarded my complaint. WILL NOT BE GOING BACK.
