Pizza was meh. I don’t usually write reviews, but if you enjoy the marinara/pizza sauce part of pizza you may not enjoy this pizza. They water down their marinara a lot and it’s extra salty. Didn’t like it at all. The crust was good, but the marinara lost us. We probably won’t visit again.
We were pool-side and wanted pizza. We had been to the boardwalk that previous evening and had seen Papa’s Pizza, it smelled great. I checked online and they are affiliated with Delivery Dudes. Easily ordered a cheese pizza (kid friendly) on my smart phone to be delivered to the hotel lobby. It was good to get pizza, other than the commercial pizza places, delivered. We enjoyed the pizza, it was large and arrived hot. No complaints, it met our expectations.
What a nasty and rainy day it was last Sunday, so a warm and satisfying pizza sounded like the right thing to brighten our day. My wife and I ordered the X-large and they let us do half and half of their Celebrity Pizzas, which was a real plus. She ordered the Sophia Loren with jalapenos on her half and I ordered the Frank Sinatra without pepperoni on mine. They do not offer delivery, so we ran and picked it up between storms. I started getting interested in NY style pizza several years ago, and I do try to seek it out. I believe some of the negative reviews here are from diners who do not understand what they are getting when they order it. NY style pizza is very different from most of the pizza offered by the chains here in the south. I have had several pies from Papa’s in the past and this one was probably my least favorite, the quality seems to differ widely from visit to visit. I really did not have any major problems with the pie, I really like the flavor of the cheese and the sauce, I just did not like the canned mushrooms, and would not have allowed them on my pizza if I had known that they were. I believe fresh pizza deserves fresh ingredients, not slimy mushrooms soaking in their own juice, yuck! The only other issue I had was the sausage was over seasoned, and had an intense anise bite (fennel would be the most likely candidate), that was a bit too strong for my liking. I liked the crust and the rest of the ingredients (excluding the aforementioned slimy fungus), they really make a likeable pie; I wish that their quality did not bounce around so much.I still will try again, maybe the next time a good band is at Bamboo Willies. It is pretty nice to sit and watch the stage and eat a warm piece of gooey NY style pie. I hope that the mushrooms are fresh next time.
Liked. We liked it we went back another night ANC then ate leftovers for lunch had live music playing at bamboo
Love at first slice.. I loved it! The crust was my favorite. They make it there fresh. I also agree the sauce is maybe a little watery but the flavor is amazing! Two Thumbs up!Our server was a wonderful server and she looked so cute in her cat ears!

Not the best pizza, anywhere; including the frozen ones at Publix.
