A staple part of every visit to Amelia Island. The food is always delicious and sitting outside on the wrap-around porch gives you a great feel of the South. The coffee and donuts dessert is still Da Bomb and worth the trip. Krispy Kreme bread pudding with coffee ice cream. Save room!
I took my parents and grandmother to here for Mother’s Day Brunch. $25 a person covered a large spread of food, including fruit, pastries, quesadillas, Eggs Benedict, and more. It was delicious! I ordered a glass of 4 Graces Pinot Gris, which went great with the food. The service was amazing, and I will definitely come back to visit. I’m still wanting to try the lobster corndogs!
Too salty. Poor service. 29 has been a favorite of this local but my last two experiences have been less than top notch. My order of fried green tomatoes came out as soup, we had to ask repeatedly for service and my steak was too salty to enjoy. Everyone has an off night but given I experienced some of the same (being seated beneath a dripping, loud AC unit for example) it will be awhile before I return.
We had one of our worst dining out experiences ever here. Cheese plate appetizer included tiny portions of cheese that would not be suitable for sharing with another person. We were served our food by a surly sour female server. We had to ask her for a steak knife for a pork chop she said nothing & returned later roughly landing it on the table. Our primary server NEVER came to our table to ask how was the food. Here’s how it was: cold mashed potatoes served with tough cold fried chicken. Sea scallops entree for $26 had 4 meager sized scallops that were rubbery and fishy tasting. Some of the worst seafood ever had on his island. We told the server we wanted to order another bottle of wine before our entrees but as he never came back to our table until long after the meal was over that didn’t happen & he never asked about the wine either. Terrible service and awful awful food and a hefty bill at the end. Sickening.
Wish we could un-go here tonight. Tonight was supposed to be a special night. We have been celebrating the Christmas holiday with family that has come from far and near to be together on Amelia and everything has led us to our final night together at 29 South. Here’s what worked:The bathroomsHere’s what did not work:The food, the service, the wineWe have heard nothing but good things about this place from local foodies and close friends and maybe we were here on a bad night but it seems hard to believe that from chicken to pork, to scallops to our sides (which came out on our plates cold!) everything went wrong, including the fact that our primary server never asked us what we thought of our food and the secondary server who brought out our food was visibly smug and surly.Recommendation: send your wealthy enemies to 29 South for a night on the town.
De-lish. Very fresh! We had fried green tomatoes, crabcakes, lobster corn dog, honey fried chicken, sweet tea brined pork chop, red white and blue hamburger, and fried shrimp and grits, and everything was absolutely amazing.
Not accommodating at all!!. Actually if I could rate them zero stars that would be more accurate. Never have we been treated so poorly at any restaurant by the hostess/ greeter. Our reservations were not accurate in the system and the male hostess gave us a rude reception and gave us nothing but a sassy attitude! They did not want to attempt to accommodate us at all, nor did they apologize for the mix-up.
