Chose the restaurant based on the recommendations from the site and was not disappointed at all. All ingredients were very fresh, and the service was outstanding. The red sangria was a good way to start, and for a finish, their flan was the best Ive ever had.
Having lived in Valencia, Spain (Where Paella originated), I had to try out Espaa for their tapas and Paella Valencia. First and foremost, the restaurant if very cozy and well acquainted in the historic neighborhood. Upon first glance of the menu, this restaurant had many options that are actually served in Spain: ex) shrimp in garlic butter, patatas bravas, jamon, etc…We ordered many tapas during our dining experience. Everything was authentic and wonderful, but I would like to highlight a couple tapas:1) Patatas bravas: the patatas bravas I am familiar with in Spain are usually all drenched in bravas sauce. The patatas bravas at this restaurant was lightly dressed with bravas sauce. We had to ask for an extra serving of bravas sauce to pour it over the patatas to our liking. The sauce was also not as spicy as I expected2) Extremes (ham and cheese platter): Do not expect to be served spanish exports like jamon iberico. Although, I did enjoy the jamon here at the restaurant and the taste instantly brought me back to tapas bars in Spain. Now, on to the main show: Paella. Having cooked Paella many times and having ate paella on a daily basis while living in Spain, Id like to say I have a fair understanding of what good paella tastes like. Although the paella Valencia here did not WOW me, it was absolutely enjoyable. The biggest downfall of their paella is that it did not have the staple crunch to its rice. Usually when you cook paella thoroughly and with patience, the rice would burn a bit on the bottom of the pan, leaving crunchy bits of rice to be enjoyed. I did enjoy the taste of their paella very much, generous portions of mussels and shrimp.I give this place 4 stars for its authenticity, taste, and atmosphere . Based on yelp and my research, this is the only place that has paella that is a Spanish restaurant. Thank you for reminding me of Spain! Great restaurant all in all. It was great speaking Spanish to your Bilingual staff as well. – Ansel Ponce Diama
