Should have left after seeing only two folks in the dining room and two at the bar during what should have been a busy lunch period. Ordered the fried chicken, which was good but no better than Popeye’s or Church’s. Cheese grits were dry and who puts onions in their collard greens? Won’t be going back.
Long gone are the days of traditional family style brunch at the Florida House. I came back on this trip expecting to relive something of that experience but find myself leaving disapointed and underwhelmed. I did enjoy the fried chiken which was prepared very well. The grits were under seasoned and the promised collard greens non existent. The service was overly casual and inattentive. I don’t think I will return.
One of our favorite lunch spots. The chef is amazing and will prepare any changes you wish. Great fresh food. We always love this place. Quiet with nice ambiance.
Great food with the atmosphere to go with it. All our party’s food was great & the history behind the inn is fascinating . We will definitely be going back!!
FLA House is a fabulous place to dine. The mix of modern and southern soul is amazing. Also hot can you top a place that is on the National Register of Historical Places. If your in Fernandina Beach, Florida do yourself a favor and go experience a piece of history
Great food/great place. The history of the florida house is great and to be able to have a great lunch on top of it is even better. I have eaten at the Florida house on business meetings and also with my faimly. Marshell (the chef) does a great job and one of my favorites is the pimento cheese sandwich. Great place to have LUNCH.
Expected better. Dash it all, this should have been good and has such potential–I want to give it another try but $40 for a bleh lunch is a tough gamble.I really wanted to love this place…after I read a review in a local magazine I was chomping at the bit to visit this place. I believe the review said that the chef had trained with Julia and Jaques. They have done alot to restore the place and the atmosphere is great, but I knew we were in trouble when our biscuits arrived–they were cold and hard. The server was MIA for most of the time and not very friendly when she did stop by. Although we had a nice chat early on with one of the owners. The buttermilk fried chicken had a hard crust and was not thoroughly cooked- and the collards were definitely not the southern greens I prefer. Another in our party had the salad with goat cheese, I forget the name of it, but it was fine. I had high expectations—but was really disappointed!
