Having been insearch of the perfect on our roadtrip we were starting worry we were going to head back to australia disappointed then we stumbled upon captain BBQ. I cant fault anything, a shack on the beach, mouth watering ribs and beans and cold beers. What else do you want. We became very fod of the omni present voice calling out nanes for orders, who had obvioulsy perfected the art. Really relaxed atmosphere, with great food. I would definitely recommend to stop in here for lunch (get the beans).
I’ve had BBQ all over. The ribs here are the best I’ve ever had. I also tried the pulled pork burrito. Very good. It’s a 45 minute drive for me. Well worth it. Looking forward to going back.
Good bbq in Palm Coast with a great view! The beach bucket is a good pick and the servings are huge. Some of the sides have some flair with a twist. The view is amazing!
After having heard how good the food is here we finally stopped and tried it out without disappointment. It is every bit as delicious as it smells passing by on A1A! We had the brisket and chicken. Both perfectly moist and just the right amount of smokiness that didn’t haunt me all day like it does from Dustins. And as wrong as I feel saying it, because we have a VERY high regard for them, the brisket was better than 4 Rivers. The sides were equally delicious and we expect that we will make Captain’s BBQ a regular stop even though we live in Ormond Beach. Getting food of this caliber at such a fair price makes it worth the drive!

Smoke gets in your eyes, hickory and tobacco!. Food was alright, but a tad too heavily smoked! Regarding that smoke, normally the wind blows out of the east in this area and the restaurant is just west of a public park with fishing and boating access. Children use the park, elderly use the park, there is handicapped access for one fishing dock and we used to use the park. I suppose this is the fault of the county for awarding the concession to a smoke shack. That smoke contains carcinogens and it stinks. We no longer use the park for fishing and boating access. We launch from the Devil’s Elbow in St Augustine. We quit using the park for fishing access due to the hickory/oak smoke but also due to the restaurant help taking, get this smoke breaks on the southernmost fishing dock. Not only due they smoke on the dock but they’re surly as heck. I tried to say hi and the guy acted liked I was interrupting him. Hey, restaurant guy, you’re in a public park and you’re interrupting me a citizen of Flagler County with your cigarettes and work breaks. Solution? Do not renew that concession and I will be contacting the county commissioners. In the meantime, employees find another place to take a smoke break besides the county park fishing docks. You may not care about your health but we care about ours. Thanks.
