Very classic Italian with piano & everything. Toto the floor manager even checked on the table. The priceing is even correct for the establishment as well.
Not impressed. As a long time resident of South Florida I went here for the first time today. I was unimpressed with the service and more unimpressed with the food. It appears that in Ft Lauderdale restaurants sometimes become popular as a happening place and there is little correlation with the quality of food.
Come hungry, leave happy. There is nothing that is brand new or cutting edge about this restaurant. It is absolutely old school with neatly uniformed wait staff, a giant tasty menu, and decor to knock your socks off. My only complaint might be that it is a noisy place where you have to speak up to carry on conversations with a big table of folks, but that is a minor issue. You don’t come here to have a quiet meal; you come to celeberate–events or just life as it happens. The staff are efficient and helpful. The food portions are enormous (I always take home enough from my meal to make another two) and the Eggplant Marino is so good that I want to have it for my main meal–that is, if I could go without having the Snapper Franchese again. The inside is decorated with a slight deco vibe with lots of mirrors and steel and black, but it’s all around the airplane theme that makes me think of the Brat Pack. It is a crowded place so make reservations to be sure to get a table if you are in a rush. The bar area is small, but the bartenders know their stuff.
Enjoyable dinner. Friends took us there Saturday night. Very enjoyable excellant service by a terrific waiter. Seated promptly on a very busy night. Portions were large and food great. Hard to understand some of the mixed reviews. Liked the old world charm.
Fantastic – as always. Been coming here for about 30 years now, and I wouldn’t keep coming back if the entire dining experience wasn’t great. I consider this as the successor to the Gold Coast after old man Sonken passed away and they closed up. I’ve never had anything but reasonably priced, super-sized portions of classic Italian American fare served by a trained professional waitstaff. Substitutions are welcome and the chef will whip you up something not on the menu should you desire-true old school service you rarely find. I’ve never had a problem with wait times, but I usually dine in the bar area (bartenders are pretty easy on the eyes). The decor hasn’t really changed since opening, and I hope it never does; the illusion of being in the first class cabin of an airliner remains unique.This place is a welcome relief from the celeb chef BS that’s being served up in most places nowadays.If you’ve driven by and not stopped in you’re doing yourself a disservice. There’s a reason the parking lot is always full and there’s a line at the door; the reason is greatness awaits you inside!
