Located in the new Manor at Flagler Village complex, the coffee house and eatery is hoping to bring some of the Cuban flavor into the area. We arrived quite early on a Saturday and found parking to be a snap. That being said, we can see it becoming more tricky as mid-morning approaches so take note. The inside is narrow with mostly white as the color of choice. We found it a bit boring until you got to the east side of the seating area where there were some fun Cuban mementos and art piecesThis is a fast-casual spot with all kinds of Cuban coffee drinks and more food options than expected. Breakfast has some sandwich options and lunch/dinner expands with some meats, platters and bowls. We found the brunch menu interesting. Ordering was smooth and the cashier was friendly and efficient. You have the choice to customize your order, picking your bread, cheese, etc. We both ordered a breakfast sandwich and Jeff added on a Double Colada. The colada ($3.09) was out first, fairly quickly and the sandwiches were delivered to the table in about 10-15 minutes. Honestly, the drink was our least favorite. Not Cuban at all. The taste was off and sadly the full drink ended up in the trash. Big disappointment. Havana Hangover Sandwich ($5.59) Ham, bacon, egg, cheese (we chose swiss), papitas, onions. You have your choice of bread and we went for the Cuban. The sandwich comes out nicely wrapped and feels like a present when you are opening it. While it looked a bit on the small side, it was loaded with toppings. The bread was fresh and a good choice. The papitas (potato sitx) gave it an interesting texture that we both liked. Swiss was a great option tying in all of the toppings, but we felt that the onions were too finely chopped to really have an impact. The egg was fresh and the bacon was a bit on the thin side and reminded us of the Dunkin Donuts bacon. Overall, this was our favorite sandwich of the two and a not a bad value for the price. Breakfast Sandwich ($4.84) Cuban bread with eggs, ham and American cheese. The menu showed this sandwich to be $4.59, so we are not sure why we were charged $4.84. It could be that we added onions to the sandwich, but the receipt doesnt show that. A good sandwich, but after trying the Havana Hangover, we felt this one lacked a bit in the flavor department. Fountain Drink ($2.39) We usually dont mention sodas but we felt the need here. Soda seems expensive everywhere today and it was no different here. The stiff $2.39 price tag was for unlimited self-serve refills, but the glass was way too small. Very disappointing and we suggest you skip the soda unless larger glasses are given to make it a better value. foodiefrog.com
I loved this place and consider it a real find. It is cuban fusion. The expresso pancakes on a Sunday morning are killer, the chocolate empanadas, the cuban style eggs benedict. I think the menu is clever. The ambience is cuban fusion too with modern furnishings and a wall of Cuban memories. Dogs are welcome, as long as they are well behaved; and they had treats behind the counter for mine! Great find!
