Amazing Italian Restaurant. Had the Risotto Pescatore and pulled mozzarella. I would definitely recommend da Campo. I’m still dreaming of the mozzarella! miamiculinarytours.com
The food was truly great. Highly recommend if you’re interested in enjoying an authentic meal, but the waiter was horrific. The chefs and bartenders (ask for Walter!!) are great, but the waiter was by far the worst we have had during a dining experience. He rolled his eyes, purposely ignored us after other staff reminded him to come to our table and delivered us our tab in an aggressive and irritated manner. He was extremely rude to my fianc. If you can avoid this waiter, the restaurant gets 5 stars! The head chef is a true artist!!!
The mozzarella pulling and bread was great, but that was it. I had the lamb meatball spaghetti, and the sauce was bland and flavorless. The meatball was okay, but this is not a $26 dish.Quite tasteless and disappointing. My friend had the Texas ribeye, and it had so much charring on the outside that the taste of the meat was overpowered. Overall definitely not worth the money. Find somewhere else to dine while staying here.
3rd Time’s the CHARM. Utter perfection the other eve. Everything was perfectly prepared, seasoned perfectly and cooked perfectly. Pasta, Veal Chop, the desert. Wonderful.09 Jun, 2010HMMM. WELL, I can now see merit in all the reviews. Went for Sunday super and it was a disaster. I won’t go in to it, but it was not good. The Mgr. was very gracious; that said, they need to work on consistency. The pre-fix menu was an unpleasant surprise as I was really looking foward to the regular menu and everything served was so very poorly prepared. It is hard to believe the Chef or any of the prep staff was the same as our first dining experience. I will go back because it was so exceptional the first time. I hope I get a repeat performance of that experience rather than the second.02 Jun, 2010Excellent. This restaurant did not disappoint! The mozzarella station was fabulous with the toppings and excellent wine selection. I had the snapper w/the marsalla sauce and it was utterly delicious. My husband had the veal shank, he said it was perfectly prepared and may have been the best he’d ever had. My sister had the pasta; angnolotti and she was thrilled as well. The only weakness I can comment on in the main dishes would be a slight lack of seasoning, especially salt. I found myself salting everything and the chunky rock salt that they provide gives an uneven flavor when used at the table rather than in cooking. The only disappointment was the desert. We ordered the carrot cake begniets and they were heavy and awkward. The flavor profile was exactly what you’d expect ordering fried carrot cake; not my choice, but I gave in. Everyone agreed that it was a poor desert. That aside, I can not wait to go back and have dreamed about the snapper and velvety mozzarella with excellent wine! Also to their credit was a fabulous wait staff who helped make the evening truly memorable in a lovely way.
As a guest at the hotel where the restaurant is located, my partner and I made reservations. We had eaten at da campo before and were always pleased with the food and service until now. Service was poor. No bread at the table. No water until we asked for it. Staff was too busy fussing over another guest – a local celebrity – if u can believe it. They ignored all other diners. The only thing that came fast was the check. All in all a major disappointment and an expensive one at that!
Many better places to eat in ft lauderdale. We’ve been to 8/10 of Todd’s restaurants across the country every one great but da Campo is a shocking disappointment. The service — especially at the bar is the worst we’ve ever had — hard to believe that other than the hotel guests the locals would support this place. Bottom line – there are many Ft Lauderdale restaurants with great food/service – this isn’t one of them.
Disappointed in service. Food, except desserts, was very good. Lovely presentation. Service was terrible. As some have already said, the waiters disappear and don’t come back out for long periods of time. Our waiter was quite snobby and not helpful at all. Had to beg for water and tea refills. Will not go back. While good, the food and atmosphere cannot make up for the poor and snobby service.
