One of the best Latino / Cuban restaurants ever. The place is cozy and warm and the food is off the hook delicious. I had the Pork filet while others had the whole snapper and the paella. We fought over whose food was the most delicious!!!!! I agree that it is not cheap but very well worth the $. Don’t miss this place.
Just Like Most Said. The food was overpriced ($80.00 for 2 people). I had the Cuban sandwich which had a lot of ham but very little of the pork. The food was okay but not worth it. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Excellent. Great food, warm atmosphere, attentive staff, and again-Great Food. Empanadas, wonderful. Lechon asada, perfect. Flan, delightful. Will definitely return.
Good food, but overpriced and shady business dealings. We had the same experience as many reviewers here. Five of us went to lunch, and ended up with a $190 bill. I ordered a Sangria and the waitress brought out a pitcher, so I assumed they were running a special, until we received the bill for a charge of $34 Some of the specials with unlisted prices ended up being close to $40 for lunch (severely overpriced). The hand written bill didn’t add up, so upon going over with Mario for about 20 minutes, he reduced the bill somewhat and then tried to sell me five $50 coupons for $150 (which after reading the reviews here he has done repeatedly). I don’t mind paying for good food, but don’t try to be shady about it and be forthcoming with your prices and business dealings.
A real scam!. My experience at Mario’s coincides with the bad reviews on this site. There is no such thing as a reservation even though Mario will take it over the phone. The food is way over priced – $40 for skirt steak, rice and beans? Really? There was nothing exceptional about the flavor and the mussels and shrimp I ordered were both over cooked. The rudeness of the owner is off the chart, and he is arbitrary in calculating the bill. Those who gave rave reviews because they received complimentary drinks, appetizers, dessert, and coffee don’t realize that their food was subsidized by those of us who received bills with unexplained charges on them. I received an unreadable handwritten and hand calculated bill, which did not total the amount I had ordered. When I politely questioned the additional charges, Mario himself snapped at me that the price was correct and it was a good price. I asked him 3 times to explain the charges, and each time he evaded giving an answer. He finally just threw the bill at me and walked away. This man is running a real scam. Any appearance of generosity shown to the few he selects is offset by the over charging he does to other patrons. As far as I’m concerned, he’s committing fraud on his customers.
Christmas Dinner. 3 days before our first visit I called and made a reservation. We were looking forward to going, based on the good reviews. We arrived and approached someone at the entrance (that in itself was a disaster). They were extremely busy and we thought, ‘it must be good’. They did not make our reservation and did not even ask our name…there was no reservation list. We were seated at a table for two directly in front of the kitchen and on the pathway for entering customers. Customers were lined up for seating directly next to our table, so having someones butt in your face was unavoidable, plus huge trays of food actually over our head as the waiters entered and exited the kitchen. We asked for a table change and they were quite disturbed but finally gave us a more acceptable spot….BEHIND the kitchen door. Imagine our surprise when we looked at the menu and the outrageous prices: ex: that Lobster tail, cut in half with a small side of asparagus that they show on their site is $69.99!!! I ordered Palomillo steak that I have had in Chain Restaurants that were definitely better, tough steak and bland flavors. At the end of the meal,( they did not even ask if we wanted dessert) there was an $8.00 charge that we questioned. The owner, Mario, looked at it and repeated the TOTAL….never addressing our question and saying the bill is correct! So, when you are spending $69.99 for a meal, you should be greeted cordially at the the door, provide seating space for the waiting customers, the staff should be dressed appropriately for up-scale prices, the curb the rudeness! Our check was literally thrown on the table!!! We will not go back!!!!
Amazing.. I was really surprised with the food and service. Mario and all of his staff was very courteous. We had Adriana who was our waitress and she was the best. Had a beautifuL EVENING. Bartender needs a little training.
