Although the actual food as well as the overall concept of the restaurant are great, it is Chef Brooke herself that may put a damper on your experience here. She is not understanding, patient, or conscious of her customers’ wants and/ or needs. Normally I just ignore her negative energy and comments, but today I was trying to calmly explain an issue with my meal to her and she raised her voice to me, rolled her eyes, and walked away while i was still talking- all in front of multiple customers.As much as I absolutely love the veggie burgers here, I have found they are just not worth interacting with Brooke.
After my second bite of Veggie Lasagna I asked Brooke what take out I could get that would be just as good in 3-4 hours. She suggested the Tempeh Ruben. I must say, it was fantastic. I’m glad I got to meet Brooke, enjoy her food, and have a nice conversation. If you’re looking for a 99 cent meal served with a fake smile, do not come here. If you want amazing fresh, healthy, delicious food served by real people at a reasonable price, then visit Chef Brooke. Can’t wait until I’m back in the area again to try more of Brooke’s delicious meals.29 Nov, 2014Amazing Lasagna & Salad. In town for the weekend looking for great Vegan Food. I found it. All the reviews on Urban and Yelp praised the food. I’ll second that. The taste of the Veggie Lasagna & House salad is still in my mind. It was so fresh, flavorful and had amazing texture. well done Brooke!!! I’ll let you know how my Tempeh Ruben to go is after I eat it later.. Keep up the great food.
Food not worth the attitude. Although the food is good, Chef Brooks attitude is abhorrent. This was the second time I have been to her establishment. The first time I thought I had just caught her right when she opened and she was still busy with that. I was made to feel like I was a bother. This last time (and I do mean last) I was simply trying to pay my bill and was spoken to like I had done something to offend her. When I called her on it she became sarcastically polite. I don’t give my business to people that don’t appreciate it.
Insulting, Offensive, Not Worth It. I will never again visit Chef Brooke’s Natural Cafe. Allow me to begin by stating that I love vegetarian and vegan food, and Brooke’s is no exception. The food is great. Seriously. Brooke makes a delicious veggie burger, and her smoothies are sweet and filling. Her customer service, however, is virtually nonexistent. Chef Brooke is not only moody and unprofessional, she is viciously abusive towards both her customers and her staff. Ask too many questions about her menu, and she’ll yell at you and walk away. Some poor employee makes a mistake, and she’ll scream at him in front of her entire restaurant. I’m surprised no one has sued her yet. Unless you want to be insulted by this reincarnation of the Soup Nazi, I suggest staying away from Chef Brooke and her poor excuse for a restaurant.
Chef Brooke’s Cafe is my source for culinary inspiration. As a Vegan it’s easy to get stuck in a food rut. Eating the delicious, innovative, healthy cuisine at Chef Brooke’s inspires me to branch out at home as well. I love the atmosphere, I always meet new friends there and the service and food are so superior my very traditional meat-lovin Italian mom is asking me to take her for lunch at Chef Brooke’s on her birthday! She is addicted to Brooke’s raw hummus and has a yen for her lamb stew. If you haven’t been yet, you are missing out!
Great Vegan Food. Had the delicious Tofu Melt Sandwich, iced green tea, and a cupcake which were all wonderful. All vegan items are clearly marked, I really appreciated that and it made ordering super easy. Appreciated the wide range of vegan items, not too many places have vegan cheese so that was a real treat! Will be going back soon!
Always a good tasty meal. Have had lunch here once a month for the past 4 months. The food is always very, very tasty. Sometimes the cafe is very busy and sometimes it’s quieter, but always the food is the best. Chef Brooke oversee’s everything and there is never pressure to relinquish your table for others. She knows what she’s doing in the kitchen.
