Disappointed in Alva!We thought we had found somewhere that could become our favorite restaurant. We reviewed your online menu on November 3, 2013, and were pleased to see that the dinner menu featured a variety of main dishes, soups and salads, especially the steaks and comfort foods. We made plans and reservations for a special date night dinner. On Friday, November 15, when we arrived from Alva, we enjoyed drinks in the bar and were looking forward to a great meal. When we were seated at our reserved table, my husband asked for a wine list and was told that the list was being changed and that many of the wines featured on the list were no longer available. When we looked at the single-sided dinner menu, my husband and I both turned the menu over to see additional meal selections. We were very surprised to see that the menu was so limited and did not feature most of the selections that were on the menu when we viewed it online. When we decided to leave to find another place to have dinner, the diners at an adjacent table told us of their disappointment with the menu changes and that they missed their favorite dishes.Although the hostess was very apologetic and asked that we speak to the manager to voice our dissatisfaction with the menu changes, we were too disappointed to even do that. Apparently, The Edison will not become a favorite of ours.
So-so. Pot-roast nacho’s is made with liquid cheese, lame! Service, lame! ordered anchovies and got four of them, and had to order four more. The whole menu is un-inspiring. Needs make over.
Thanksgiving Buffet. I went to The Edison for Thanksgiving at 3:30. The food was cold, buffet was a mess, little to no dessert, and we waited 15 minutes after being seated for drinks. Overall time spent in the venue was about 44 minutes…could not get out fast enough! I let my family down on a holiday. For this horrible experience, a 20% gratuity was mandated for a buffet….@ 29.95! I emailed the owner on two occassions with NO REPLY. I will never repeat at this establishment!
Thanksgiving 2012. This my second visit & have never written a review of any kind. 1st we waited a while for a 2:00pm reservation that was made a month ago , we were seated by a very pleasant person but sat there for 10 minutes before a manager happened by & asked if we were waited on & took our drink order that finally came out 10 minutes later with only 2 of the 3 drinks so now we have been seated for 20 minutes & had to wait 15 minutes to be seated so now it has been 35 minutes & 1 drink short ! The Thanksgiving Day buffet was poor relative to the cost as I will explain , for $29.95 a buffet which consisted of the 1st 10 feet or so with all cold salads , noodles , tomato & onions , etc. with no relation to Thanksgiving , then there was fish[soul] in a white sauce with no rice or noodles to put it on next were green beans in butter , next was sweet potatos that were luke warm & butter would not melt on it , next was mashed potato – same as the sweet potato , next was white meat turkey that was so thin sliced that it broke up & fell apart as you picked it up & next to that was corn meal dressing that was tastless at best then you go to the carving table where they had ham & another turkey breast along with some dark turkey meat in a metal container but they served that as it had no fork/spoon in it and next was a tureen with a lite tan gravy in it fresh from a can ! The desserts were many but only a few of each & when I asked for a piece of the pecan pie that I saw earlier I was told they would have to replenish it but that never happened , all of the above is not acceptable especially when they charge $29.95 [NO SENIOR PRICING] + 20% automatic tip + tax for a party of 3 for a very vanilla buffet where you have to serve yourself is excesive. There are many other good restaurants in the area & we won’t make this mistake again.
Will not go back. Have lived in Cape Coral 9 years and had not tried the Edison Restaurant. Bought a groupon deal today and tried it . Very dissapointed. The food was okay and the atmosphere left a lot to be desired. We will not be returning to this restaurant any time soon/
Hit or Miss. I have eaten at the Edison several times, either after playing golf or with friends in the evening. To be honest the food is pretty decent, but the service is either good or horrible. For instance a few weeks back, my fiance and I went to a late dinner at the restaurant, the server we had was very good and the food was also good. Then we went on 5/5 with some friends at about 7:30 pm. The server was very punctual and greeted us and said that the advertised $1 martini’s on the website (every Saturday as it stated on the Website and still does today) was not going on any longer, but instead to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, they had free Margarita’s till 10 pm. We stated that we wanted to have a drink and we were going to order some appetizers and once we ate them we wanted to get dinner, we were in no rush. There were several other tables that were filled. At about 8:00 pm we order some appetizers, nothing real extravagent and we said that we wanted to order dinner in a little while (mind you they only take dinner orders till 10:00 pm). The appetizers came out in about 15 oto 20 minutes and were tasty, but this is where it went all down hill. Once completed with our appetizers, we sat there with a dirty table for the better part of 30 minutes. Another waitress graciously came over and cleaned off the dirty plpates. We expressed that we were going to order some dinner and if she could locate our server. Well about 15 minutes had passed and nothing. The other server came by again and asked if we wanted another drink, my fiance asked about the Margarita special and she stated it was over at 9:00 pm after the first one said 10:00 pm, she took our drink order, once again we asked for our server and nothing. Meanwhile in the light fixtures above the table, there was a large amount of dust, food and evern sugar packets (yes sugar packets) in the chandelier. In the meantime we could see our original waitress cleaning and re-setting tables and working on her sidework to get out of there. Finally, the manager came over at 10:00 and we explained what had happened and how we did want dinner, but now it was 10:00 pm and the kitcen was closed. He looked at us and said sorry, grabbed a few of the sugar packets from the chadelier and left. The other server brought us our check and told us that the manager took off one of the appetizers. What we were hoping wuld be a fun, ended up being a complete downer. All I can say, is hope that you get a server that actually wants to be there to make some money, or you will be highly disappointed. With all the different names that this location has been over the years, it has one underlying theme and that is shaky service.
I love to watch gator games here! Make sure you reserve a table
