Great Family Dinner. Our family has been eating at Chopstix on a regular basis for six years now. Most of us have our favorite dishes, I love to try the specials and new dishes every time. I think between us we’ve probably tried half the menu, maybe more. As other reviewers have stated, avoid the Japanese dishes and the sushi if you’re used to high-quality authentic Japanese food. Japanese food is difficult to do well. If you’re looking for their star dishes, the ones they do really well, stick with the Vietnamese, Thai, and Chinese dishes. Their Massaman curry kicks ass. Their Vietnamese soups kick ass. Seven of us ate dinner there last night, ordering moo shu pork, seafood udon, general tso’s chicken, bun rieu, chicken lo mein, bang bang gator, some simple sushi, summer rolls, and I tried the lamb curry special. Every one of us loved our dinners. My lamb curry was great, possibly the best dish I’ve ever eaten there. Big chunks of tender lamb, well-cooked vegetables, spicy but not too hot, whole spices in the sauce. I really loved it. The portions are big, the prices reasonable. As we were finishing up, we realized they never brought us the summer rolls. The guy at the cash register apologized and took it off the bill, no problem. This is a typical experience. The service here can be spotty- we’ve had good service here and terrible. The wait staff is often woefully ignorant of the food they’re selling and act like they don’t care. Sometimes the food is slow coming out of the kitchen. If you care more about the food than the service and don’t mind occasionally going back to the kitchen yourself to ask for things (we don’t) or flagging random staff to fill in the holes, then give this place a try. The owners are friendly and the food is reliably good.

BEST ASIAN FOOD ON EARTH!. The BEST ! My wife and myself were in Gainesville Fl this week.Wife is getting cancer treatments at Shands Hospital .I asked a few people where should we have dinner? One person said to try Chop Stix Cafe ! We were shocked at how good the food was.The only PROBLEM WE HAD should be changed asap. We called the next night to have food delivered to our hotel less than a mile away ? The lady said they use a DELIVERY SERVICE ? This is the second time we had this problem in Gainesville! When she was in Shands Hospital the delivery service wanted $2.00 fee to start with.Next they wanted a $4.00 fee for them plus a 17% charge of the total cost ! You should fix this problem asap ! Your food is the best in all of Florida ! Disney,Miami,Orlando can’t come close when it comes to your food! We will be back in a few weeks ! Thanks

Hands down the best asian cuisine restaurant ever. There menu is very big but every dish I had so far is beyond my satisfaction. Good food, good service, and beautiful atmosphere. What is there not to like? My favorite dish had to be between the duck and the thai ginger grouper.

Bad service, good food. I lived in Gainesville for six years and was a regular at Chopstix. My personal favorite menu items are the steamed meat dumplings, Chop Chay with chicken, and the Pad thai. The green tea ice cream is also very good! The view at lunchtime over the lake can’t be topped. I moved away (sadly) and returned for the first time last weekend in two years. I was excited to take my Husband as he’d never been. The food, as always was top notch, he said it was the best pad thai he’d ever had! However our server was TERRIBLE. Our server was a woman with bright red hair. She rushed over to our table and attempted to take our orders without allowing us even a glance at the menus, so we ordered waters and she came back about two whole minutes later to take our food order, thanks for the time to look over the extensive menu! Luckily we already had discussed before coming what to eat so we were ready the second time. The server stared at me in an uncanny rather disconcerting way but I brushed it off as my own personal issue (not that I know her at all?) That was the last time we saw her at our table until we had to flag her down and beg for our check. She did not bring us our waters or the alcohol we ordered during round two of our ordering process. She never brought our appetizers or our food to the table. The food, in fact, came to us before the app and the man who brought it looked utterly bewildered when we asked him where our dumplings were. Finally the rest of the very kind friendly staff assembled our apps and drinks with no assistance from our server whatsoever. She glided by the table a few times but never stopped to even ask how our food was or refill our drinks. She didn’t bother to apologize for our order coming out wrong or the fact that we didn’t receive our drinks in a timely manner. She never asked if we’d like boxes (someone else brought those to us when we asked for them.) She never offered us dessert. My husband had to flag her down and ask for the check, which she delivered with a quick comment that we needed to pay in the front of the restaurant. That was all she wrote. To sum things up, food was great and totally worth it but DON’T get that server.

Great food and great service… .. My wife and I shared the Salt and Pepper Squid and the Bangkok Lamb. Both were amazing.. Service has definitely improved since last time I visited

Melted containers. This was our first meal out in Gainesville. We had it delivered and it was terrible. The Won ton soup was delivered in 2 melted containers and filled the bag with the soup. The restaurant would not credit us back our money and we had to throw the food away. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone that likes Chinese food. It was a terrible experience.

Inedible food, unpleasant atmosphere. The atmosphere at this place has gone downhill to the point of becoming ridiculous! It was always a little slow on service, but they used to at least be friendly and somewhat attentive. The last time I went however, my friend and I were treated so rudely it was absurd! And by the owner (who waited on our table) no less! We waited for 30 minutes to place an order, ran out of drinks that were never refilled, and were served mediocre General Tso’s tofu and lomein. Worse, however, was that it took an hour to get the check just so we could pay and get out of there. Seriously, an hour–and we only got it then because I finally asked the host, who rolled his eyes at me and grumbled something under his breath. It was crazy. I decided, despite this, to give them another chance though because the food used to be really good. So two weeks later I got takeout. I had General Tso’s tofu again and an orde roof spring rolls. The tofu was actually sour, and not in the good sense of that word. The spring rolls were soggy. So, never again will I order from or eat at this place.
