Not an awful place to eat if you need decent food fast. However, this is the McDonald’s of Hispanic food. It is not authentic what so ever. So, if you’re in a bind, come here. The food isn’t bad, it’s just not great either.
This was recommended to us and it didn’t not meet expectations. The sandwiches were very bland, with barely anything on them. My pia lquido was good, but that’s the only thing I would ever order here again.
Yes I am Cuban and can say I know how Cuban food should taste, and if it is authentic to the country it represents, but I digress. Truth is the food can be great and not so great and depending on the region the food represents and the chefs interpretation. Secret is to go early for foods that take longer to cook (Pork Roast, beans, ropa vieja) since they will be freshest when first served. If you go later request (cooked to order) as it will be made at the time you order it. With that being said, you still have times when it doesnt come together and times when it is the best dish you ever had. The place is clean, friendly, and there are several options. The food is reasonably priced for what it is. Yes I can cook better at home and usually do, but if your looking for someone else to cook and clean you cant go wrong.

Cuban food north of Tampa. Well I ate at two different locations the one in alachua, and the one in gainesville, the food it ok, not the best cuban food i have ever had, and well the cuban sandwich was a major disappointment, but I wasn’t surprised, trying to find authentic cuban bread, or a cuban sandwich north of tampa is like trying to find bigfoot..the food isn’t bad, it isn’t great either kind of middle of the road, the portions are big, and the picadillo wasn’t bad..I guess growing up in Tampa with a good latin america community kind of spoiled me when it comes to cuban food..hopefully one day there will be a real cuban sandwich in gainesville
Always great. Mi Apa offers consistently delicious Cuban food. The main dishes are generous and delicious. The flan is divine. The passionfruit juice is lovely. The prices are great. Service is fast.
Vacation. Fun atmosphere with very nice service. Stopped at noon and cafe was full of local patrons who offered to move over and share a table so we could stay. Food service very fast and friendly. Food tasty: Cuban shredded beef, Cuban roasted chicken, and Cuban steak sandwich; tasty black beans and beef empanadas. Great choice!
