New owners from ny. I happened to be in the shopping center and saw a big sign under new management so i went in. it was before 4pm so i had the lunch special $6.95, matzo ball soup bowl and half a corned beef sandwich (your choice of meats) iced tea cole slaw and a pickle. i had to eat some of the corned beef outside the sandwich to get it so that i could pick it up and eat it. the half sandwich was huge, the rye bread thick cut was fresh and delicious. i met the owner an african american from ny, she was extremely cordial. i owned a deli and gave her some tips. friends of mine had breakfast on fathers day and loved it. spread the word. for sure they will see me often

Disappointing management. We made a reservation for a large party ,two weeks in advance of our may 20, 2011 event and the owner assured us that a 5:30 pm reservation would be ample time for us to make our event at 7:30 across the street. we were a party of18, and there were maybe another 25 persons in the entite restaurant. at 7:20 the enterees were still dribling out of the kitchen. everyone else in the restaurant was served in a relatively timely manner, almost ignoring our party.the $9.95 special included coffee and desert which we never saw. no one cared that the food was poor, because the owner’s attitude ruined our entire evening.lake worth has much better restaurants to patronize.23 May, 201139% DO NOT LIKE this restaurant.. This tells it all. Should you take the challange? With the odds of a of Having a Good dining experience this low, pick another place.
GREAT FOOD. We eat at Essex Street Deli often enough to be critics on the quality of the food. We never had a bad meal at the deli, the food is plentiful, owner & his son run an excellent operation, service is superb and we keep coming back…People that are so critical of this deli should give this place another chance…maybe it was an off day…
My husband and I were visiting from out of town and were looking for a good deli sandwich to go. We ordered a Salami sandwich-there was about a pound of sub-par deli meat on a dry Kaiser Roll with no condiments and we paid a $1.00 extra to have an old, dried out on the edges piece of cheese put on. Was expecting a New York Style awesome deli, paid $11.00 for one sandwich that we didn’t even bother finishing it was that bad. Will never go back. This place needs some work.
ESSEX ST. DELI. GREAT PLACE TO EAT AND THE PRICE IS RIGHT
Oscar Young. Essex St. Deli is open and thriving. They never closed!! I guess this bothers some disgruntled, miserable people to cause them to post a lie that the restaurant is closed. Come on down and see for yourself that this is really an excellent link to our old New York neighborhood deli’s. Then come back here and write reviews.
