My wife and I went for lunch one day and we found the place to be pretty dead, and there were only a couple of tables that were occupied, and that being said we received some pretty prompt service and it remained so for the meal. I ordered the Shrimp Po Boy and the soup of the day, and my wife ordered the fried green tomato BLT and the seafood gumbo, and both of the soups were good, not great, but good. The shrimp were not overcooked and for gumbo that is a small miracle all on its own. My po boy was adequate but I did not really like the bread, but I am an addict to Leidenheimer french bread for them and outside of New Orleans, it is rare to find it. It was really hard to close the bread around the shrimp the was it was constructed, which made it really hard to eat, and harder to put down. My wife did not really fall in love with her fried green tomato sandwich either. I do not remember her complaint but know she was not a super fan. I remember it needing something. I agree with one of the other reviewers that this location has had a problem with keeping its restaurant space full. It is a real shame too, since it really does have almost unequaled views of the bay and the sunsets. I spent a lot of nights here when it was Bon Appetit (not sure if it was more for the sunsets or for the free wine and beer) and would like La Brisa to be successful. I clearly need to come for dinner and see what I think.
Have passed this restaurant numerous times on the way to the beach, but this is the first time we stopped to eat and so glad we did. Food quality is exceptional and it’s matched by the service. Will be recommending La Brista to other locals.
