I ate here with my grandmother while visiting from Va. Being gluten intolerant it is always hard to find a safe place to eat but my Gran frequents this place weekly with a group of friends and after spotting *ask for gluten free menu in small print I said ok. After speaking with our waiter, Darrel, was gluten/celiac & lactose intolerant knowledgable & very understanding of the frustration of finding safe eateries. After going back to speak with the chef to make sure they had their gluten free brown rice pasta in stock I asked if I could get a light shrimp scampi. Not only were they able to accommodate me but Darrel apologized for our wait which I found average for a restaurant because they were cleaning the pots & freshly boiling water to cook my food in! My meal was nicely presented with garlic, shrimp, finely diced red & yellow peppers & green onion over the brown rice pasta & tasted delicious! Highly recommend to any gluten or lactose intolerant people!
Isabelle’s Elegant Dining in the South!. I had the opportunity to go down to Gulfport for a brief business/rest trip from NYC in November 2012. Isabelle’s menu and assortment of dshes is simply wonderful. As a New Yorker, I certainly know of fine food and diverse menus. The snapper and all of the other dishes my friends and I had, were simply marvelous.Located in the restored and beautiful Peninsula Inn, the entire ambience is wonderful. If you are down in the Tampa-St. Pete-Clearwater area, you desreve it to youself to stop by and treat yourself to a stay at the Inn on a Friday or Saturday night together with Dinner at Isabelle. It is a wonderful and restful place.
Date Night Destination. My wife and I had been wanting to try Isabelle’s for sometime now, and the time was right for this past Saturday evening. We were very impressed not only with the dining atmosphere, but with the food and entertainment as well. The beginning of the meal was one of the best lobster bisques I have had in the Tampa Bay area; not to mention the portion, very generous to fill a real soup bowl. Great salad, fresh and crisp. The main course for us was the grouper for myself and the filet for my wife. The reduction sauce on the fish was very tasty but not to overpower the freshness of the fish. The filet could be cut with a fork. Both included a very nice zucchini/squash vegetable with an excellent garlic mashed potatoe. I would highly recomend this quaint get away dinner stop for a date night out…….Jimmy V.
Wonderful Evening. My wife, myself and another couple spent a luxurious evening at Isabelles last Saturday evening. Together we sampled a large portion of their menu and each one of mentioned how lucky we were to have such a great restaurant so close by. I had the seafood stuffed hush puppies, spinach salad and shrimp ‘n grits. Each was amazing – I was particularly impressed with the spinach salad.I heartily recommend Isabelle’s for a terrific evening out in graceful and elegant surroundings.
What are you kidding me :). We went here on a Sunday and were more than impressed with the GREAT staff and excellent food. Even though my wife ordered the special but got a different dish, the experience was past what we expected. I got the scallops that were cooked to perfection with a walnut butter sauce that was out of this world. My wife got the chicken, shrimp tarragon. Both were great. I highly recommend this place for your next yummy outing.
Old World atmosphere with new world tastes. This place is awesome!!! Such a lovely building, has an inn with a spa. Great indoor & outdoor space. Great chef, each dish is fresh & delicious. A gem in Gulfport. They don’t get enough credit for who they are & what they have. I would recommend this x 1000. Enjoy!
Great Food, Great Atmosphere. We were so surprised to find such wonderful food and a casual atmosphere in Gulfport. We dined on the veranda overlooking the artsy main boulevard and near the stage where there is nightly entertainment. I had perfectly-prepared scallops whereas my wife tried the ribs. Both were superb. We tried some appetizers as well. The escargot were beyond any we have ever tried, plentiful with a rich gravy-like burgundy sauce, served over chunks of hearty bread that had been grilled. The fruit and cheese plate had my candy: a big chunk of bleu cheese, on it, with some heavily-seeded flatbread. Mmm.It was a real pleasure to have vegetables with taste! Too many restaurants give no thought to the veggies, slopping up generic sauteed zucchini and broccoli or overcooked asparagus. Isabella’s vegetables were grilled (yes, actually over a fire, grill marks and all) peppers, mushrooms, eggplant, sun dried tomatoes, and big chunks of onion. The mashed potatoes were perfectly lumpy with a nice overtone of truffle oil. The maitre de was friendly and very helpful and, when we complimented the food, she brought the chef out to talk to us. Our waiter (Steven) had nice hair and earned his tip.Our only complaint was that the salad was a bit ordinary, although the house dressing was good. We’ve been back often and continue to be pleased every time.
