Very Nice View and Good Paninis. Had lunch here last weekend and yes the view is very, very nice. Eat outside if you can. We each had the Sono Panini and it was very tasty. Nice combination of flavorful meats, cheeses and veggies. Tad pricey, but worth it for the view. Good place to eat on any trip to Downtown Tampa’s new riverfront park and museum district.
They’ll make you feel special!!. Two times we have made arrangements for Sunday afternoon lunches with groups of 15 and 16 people each. They pre-set our tables and were ready for us when we arrived – Robert was our server both times and I can say he works his tail off making sure we are never without. The cheese and meat board appetizer and the artichoke appetizer are delicious. Both times I had the shrimp salad made with shaved fennel – Excellent! On top of tasty eats and excellent service you cannot beat the view! Right along the Hillsborough river next to Curtis Hixon park overlooking the University of Tampa! Wow – the sunset is amazing!
Best Seat in Tampa!. With my lady’s birthday fast approaching, I wanted to plan a romantic dinner for her. I called up the manager, Nick, to inquire about setting up a special evening for her. After brain storming together, with many great suggestions from Nick, we agreed on a setup. When we arrived at Sono Cafe’ on Friday, there was a beautiful table set up with a table cloth, fresh flowers, a bottle of wine, candles, and a piece of their incredible flour free chocolate cake with a candle in it. The wonderful service we received, where both, manager Nick and waiter Robert , went above and beyond, was priceless. There were soft tunes playing in the background, a gorgeous view of the river, and an enjoyable sunset. The food was absolute perfection, and the evening could not have gone more perfect. My lady was in tears for about half the evening, and had a huge smile the rest of the night. It’s difficult to find a restaurant in Tampa with so much soul and romance—-But Sono Cafe’ has got all that and more! It is without a doubt our new favorite spot in Tampa.
Not perfect, but interesting. Went for the Friday night dinner. The atmosphere is strange, you are seated in the middle of the museum lobby. Very stark. Friday night there is a happy hour going on as well. The menu was interesting, 3 – 4 choices for entree, appetizer and dessert. The appetizer we chose was amazing, 3 different Bruschetta, one with pesto and tomatoes, one with honey and zucchini and one with goat cheeses and mushrooms. Each one was perfect. I had the gnocchi with duck as my entree and my mom had the fish (forget what kind) with blood orange sauce. Both were pretty good. Mine was a tad cold and my mom’s was a tad bland, but overall unique and good experience.
Surprising elegant
Nice little cafe. This was a nice place to grab a bite after viewing the poorly arranged and extremely limted exhibit here. The building is very nice and the views are gorgeous, but on to the food. I had the grilled chicken, goat cheese panini with roasted red peppers and fresh basil. It was soooo good. Hubby had the parma ham and buffalo mozzarella one and liked it as well. They have PB&J for the kids as well as grilled cheese and Nutella with banana! Every kind of coffee you can think of and even sorbets.
