Fantastic Meal. Our first visit and my husband took one bite of his seafood paella and almost swooned. I had the special steak dinner which was truly memorable. We are not jaded restaurant people. We seldom go out and one reason for that is that we have found very few dinner places in the area worth visiting. This one is!
If you overlook the conversations reverberating off the stucco walls and rate this restaurant on the taste of the food – AWESOME. Started with appetizers and drinks. The beers on tap included an unusual micro-brew selection which were very enjoyable and they have a good wine list. I highly enjoyed one of the signature dishes: Grouper with Plantains 3Way. Very flavorful served with a nice presentation with a mixed green salad. I made this one of my favorites and will be returning
What a disappointment. Waitress was distracted and acted as though we were bothering her. She was unfamiliar with the menu. Asked her about soup of the day. She said it wasn’t going to be ready until after noon. It was 11:48 am. Another customer came in 5 minutes later and ordered soup and promptly received a bowl of potato soup. When the waitress returned I asked for soup since it must be done now. She conferred with the cook who told her there wasn’t enough left. REALLY??? That was enough. Between the fishy smell the lack of knowledge and the unfriendly waitress, we offered to pay for our tea and cancelled our orders. Will not darken the door again. Which is a shame. We were scoping out a place for my son’s birthday get together and I had heard good things about Brian’s place. Never even got to try it.
Oops. Well I waited for months to go to Brian’s place my expectations were high. The place is very cute but also small. We were seated at a small table right next to other diners which made conversation difficult. We were also right on top of the very loud very bad karaoke singer which took up valuable table space. This is a very nice place but that music has to go.Now about the food. My husband had the rib eye special which was delicious. I ordered the fresh grouper with red Chile corn broth. I have to say there was no flavor to it which disappointed me because I was so looking forward to eating there. The staff was very friendly so I think maybe I will try one more time. Oh forgot to mention also a bit pricey.
Great Dining Experience. We had dined at Brians before they moved and expanded and had enjoyed it,. we were worried that expanding would change the experience, but it did not, the food was absolutely fabulous, the service was stellar.. and the new place is great.. just one suggestion, a little more lighting for reading menus for those of us visually challenged who get seated in the corners of the restaraunts…… will definately be back!! oh.. and I have to mention the pumkin pie… omg.. perhaps the best we have had !!
REVIEW??. Note above… Review by Maria Schmidt dated July 3, 2012. Then read the review below (toward the bottom) by Jen Norris dated November 17, 2010. Look familiar? Word for word and minute by minute… how creative and incredible that these parties would have the same exact experience and write about in the exact same way … TWO YEARS APART! Have either of you really been there? If you had, you would have been more honest and written a real review … which is great food, great service, great atmosphere.
A Grea Favorite Spot!. Brian’s Place in beautiful Hernando Beach is truly a gem! The food is totally unique, made up of Spanish Fusion food, which is a combination of Latin, Cuban and Italian dishes. Weekly, there are great Lunches and Dinners on Thurs, Fri. and Sat. nights. Brian’s is open Tuesday through Sunday. There is terriffic entertainment at Dinner, normally on the deck, outside. The staff are warm and friendly and they all try very hard to please their customers. Owner Operator Brian Alarez is normally there to say hello whenever he is not swamped making his wonderful creations back in kitchen. Manager Bob Alvarez is also on site to welcome his guests. Brian’s also has a full-service Bar in his new location, in addition to private function rooms. One of the best features I enjoy at Brian’s Place aside from the great tasting food, is the awesome presentation of the dishes. If you are lookinjg for a truly unique and enjoyable dining experience, go to Brian’s in Hernando Beach! Richard and Judy Palais
