Delightful find!. My husband spent 3 years in Japan and we’ve kept a lookout for authentic Japanese restaurants everywhere we go. Today, for my birthday, we stumbled upon Haiku, and, as we were Jonesing for gyosa, we decided to try it.What a pleasant surprise! We went at around 1pm and there were only a couple of people there. We got a nice, secluded table and were promptly waited on by Johnny, who also assists in the kitchen. We both got the gyosa for an appetizer and were pleasantly greeted with a beautifully presented dish of a half dozen dumplings. Totally authentic and scrumptious! My husband ordered the hibachi red snapper and I got the teriyaki chicken. Both came with soup and salad. The soup was wonderful. The salad itself was just mainly iceberg lettuce but with a yummy ginger dressing. The only item that was NOT outstanding. My husband had Miso soup and I had the clear broth with scallions. Both were great. Our entrees were artistically presented, cooked to perfection, and were of very ample portions. Because it was my birthday, we splurged on dessert and shared a banana tempura with ice cream. It looked and tasted like a 5 star restaurant dessert and, though we were both pretty full from lunch, we couldn’t help but eat every bite! Hey, your birthday is only once a year, right?We left full, happy and satisfied, sure in the knowledge that we would be going back and telling everyone about this gem in spring Hill!
