Taverna Opa. The Food, the place and the food were good
Service and food was terrible. Opa chips came out beyond well done, Opa fries had no garlic or oregano like menu said and pita bread was cold and hard. Eggplant salad was at best, average because im trying to find something nice to say. Where we sat next to the windows inside next to the water, it smelled like old beer splilled and hasnt been cleaned in a week. Waitress barely chrcked on us. This on an average Weds night for a popular restaurant is shameful. Very poor!

Simply Awesome!!!. From the perspective of a family dining experience, we brought the kids, age 4 and 6, and their grandpa, and everyone had a wonderful time. The food was spectacular, the hospitality was unmatched during our stay at Hollywood Beach and my face hurt from smiling. We will not miss this experience during any future trips, and would recommend everything about this restaurant to family, friends and strangers! Live entertainment, cheery music, friendly atmosphere and we got a wide variety of foods to try, a sampler appetizer and a seafood meal and a greek meal and everything we had was fantastic.
Second time at this place, and last time I will ever go here. We arrived to a half empty restaurant, only to be told after waiting for 30 min that it would take two hours before they could serve us food. We walked out.
Outstanding Food, Service & Entertainment!. We were there for a birthday celebration. The spices in every day were outstanding. The food was very fresh and cooked to order. Not only was the service great, but all the staff treated our two grandkids (ages 5, 6) in a kid-friendly way – giving skirts to bellydance, napkins for confetti, bringing pens and paper to draw. The manager even showed the kids the fresh seafood on display and gave them baklava to take home! The entertainment, a bellydancer on the table top was a hoot. She even got the birthday girl on the table dancing!
Disappointed!!!. After being a loyal patron of Hollywood’s Taverna Opa since its opening, 13 years ago…I was so disappointed by the food and service in my last visit. My usual dish the grilled octopus appetizer, was not the same. The portion was much smaller, too many herbs and olive oil. This was huge for me because I could already savor the lovely octopus dish in my palette before I even got out from the car.Then our server, I shared some Greek with her that I learned in college before going on my trip and she was a bit unfriendly and by correcting my formal form of Greek instead of celebrating I was making an effort to share my few words. Then, the prices of the dishes are exuberant..$16 for a moussaka dish is too much. The mussels were fine, a little overcooked…the tomatoe sauce was tasty. I asked for some water for the ouzo, instead of bringing me a small water pitcher or glass with water…she intended for me to use my large water glass to pour into the small ouzo shot…thus, causing a mess. I was heart-broken to know that this original location’s quality of food and service is deteriorating…unfortunately, these are some of growing pains of an establishment that has grown its brand and obtained now too much popularity where the attention to detail, what made the restaurant standout in the first place, is falling on the waste side. The location is still one of the best properties to transcend as if you are enjoying Greek food at a beautiful seaside town in Greece. I do hope this review will help in creating awareness to the owners.
