MMMM….. Let me start by saying we are big fans of hot dogs and so we were excited to see another hot dog place in Fort Lauderdale. We used to enjoy the one on Broward Blvd just west of 441 but alas it closed. Now we have Howie’s Top Dog and it is great! Been there twice so far- had Chicago dogs both times- hard to change it up when you like what you get. The dogs are good and the fries are EXCELLENT (even when eating them is delayed by a drive home). Tried the onion rings today and they are also very good. Small inside but very clean. Hope this place sticks around.
Excellent Chicago food!. There is finally an excellent place for Chicago hot dogs and Italian Beef in South Florida. Howie does a great job and the food is superb! This is the real thing! I came across the place on The Vienna Beef website. I’m so glad I did. Howie has been there on all our visits. They serve real Vienna Hot Dogs and the rest of their product line. You will find everything served at a Chicago style restaurant and the prices are reasonable. The dining area is nice and clean with a TV. Starting Monday May 6th they will be open for dinner until 8pm. Howie’s Top Dog is located on 441 not too far north of The Hard Rock on the west side of the street. In the same plaza as Dunkin Doughnuts and next door to Philly Pretzel Heaven.
Awesome Italian Beef, Dogs and Burgers. If you are from Chicago, you will love this place. Howie is there serving you with that friendly mid western smile. Went there with my family andate a few things… The Italian Beef is juicy and mouth watering. Burgers are awesome on Challah buns. And the Chicago dog is perfect with steamed poppy seed buns, Vienna Beef dogs, the neon green relish and all the toppings. Also, they have MERKT’s cheese for your cheese fries! Haven’t found another place around town that has Merkt’s cheese! wow! Onion Rings are also awesome and if you cant decide between fries or rings, you can get their combo FRINGS! Though I didnt try them yet, they also have gyros, other sandwiches, sausages, a salad bar and loaded spuds. Cant wait to go back and have more!
Howie’s Top Dog is just like being back in Chicago. The Chicago Dog is terrific and the fries were perfect. I plan on having the italian beef next time. It looks awesome. And Howie was right there making all the food himself. Great casual place to go with the family.
