My favorite restaurant is also Japanese izakaya, consisting of small Japanese dishes. This one is definitely a Japanese-American fusion restaurant, which I didnt mind at all. I pretty much tried half of the menu while dining for one since Im such a pig. Here are the items I ordered:Drinks:Hachi – 4.5/5 stars – recommended by the bartender, it was surprisingly good for someone who never tried mushroom-infused bourbon SHI – 5/5 stars – very refreshing, slightly on the sweet side, very pleasant tasteFoods:Wagyu beef tacos – 3/5 also a recommended item, knew I shouldnt have ordered them, but it was alright I guess Tuna crispy rice – 5/5 delicious spicy tuna, decorates with caviar on top, over crispy rice!Toro handroll – 4.5/5 mmm, so good! Pork belly (from the grill) – 1.5/5 stars came out burnt and the slices on the skewer were too thin, it almost tasted like burnt bacon, but more burnt taste than anything else. Dont order. Sushi Omakase ($50) – 3.5/5 stars i guess it was not bad quality for a restaurant that doesnt specialize in sushi. I have very high standards for sushi so I wasnt expecting too much from here Toro nigiri – 5/5 melt in your mouth deliciousness!! Must have. Japanese doughnuts – 4/5 almost like beignets mixed with churros to get this fluffy doughnut with 3 dipping sauces of chocolate, matcha green tea, and peanut butter. Giving this place 5/5 stars because I believe if I ordered the right items, and my favorites, I could have a very enjoyable experience. Maybe Ill try the Wagyu beef next time Im here since that looked delicious as well. The drinks were good, ambience was nice, waiter was attentive (thanks Andrew!) Im also a sushi snob so my standards for sushi are high, but they did a great job.
