Despite being one of the few restaurants in Homestead with few or little inspection violations and their food being quite good, Mario’s management leaves a lot to be desired. Considering we eat there two to three times a week and patronize almost daily for coffee, for the second time in less than six months in outside seating we were asked to relocate ourselves by a manager as the smoking he was claiming was bothering other patrons. Mind you, I am not a smoker, all the other parties at our table are smokers. I find the practice by this manager, Noel, to be discriminatory and disrespectful and to single out a table out of all the outside tables at his convenience when there was no other tables available. The table we were using is in a corner away from all other outside table seating and there’s also a fan conveniently located above us pushing the smoke out. Needless to say, unless he is terminated or the place is sold to New Management, I have absolutely no plans to ever patronize this establishment again! And for you cigar smokers out there, a member of our party was smoking enjoying a nice $9 cigar. They also happen to sell cigarettes at the walk-up window in the same location as their outside seating, so needless to say it is hypocritical to reap the benefits of sales but be intolerable to their consumption. Incidentally, with the exception of myself, ALL members at my table are law enforcement – which this establishment is frequented by many of them on a daily basis. #restaurants #dining #Homestead #lawenforcement
Had churasco steak. Great grilled skirt steak with congri and salad as sides. Everything tasted fresh. Restaurant could have used a little cleaning around windows. Waitress was nice and efficient enough unlike some other establishments in Homestead.
