  The Place to Come for Fish and Chips. We came with a group of 8 on the recommendation of local British friends. Decent pub atmosphere, complete with dart board. Live entertainment on weekends. Tonight was an oldies duet; very enjoyable.Drinks are reasonably priced, and you’re not gouged if you only want iced tea or soft drinks. Food is fresh and cooked to order and includes all the standards… bangers and mash, shepherd’s pie, Scotch eggs, and, of course, fish and chips. We started off with complimentary crisps. Freshly fried, generous portions, and very tasty. Our salads were fresh, served with a variety of vegetables and a hard-boiled egg. The potato leek soup was delicious. Five of our group ordered fish and chips, cod and haddock were available. We asked for double-dipped — no problem. As I said, it was made to order. The fish was flaky and not greasy. We were not accommodated when asked for broiled cod. But it was explained that the fish tends to flake apart when prepared that way. The chips (fries) are not my style, but, again, are done not crispy, more to the liking of my Brit friends as are the mushy peas. And you don’t have to ask for malt vinegar. The grilled chicken was very tasty, the hamburgers are char-grilled, and the vegetables are all nicely steamed, not overcooked. I was a little disappointed with the Shepherds Pie. Ground beef in dull beef broth, vegetables on the side. The potato crust was the best part, tasty and baked nice and crispy.Sorry, but there was no room for dessert. I would have liked to try the bread pudding or spotted dick.
