Disappointed. Thought the restaurant was totally overpriced. The chicken piccata that I had did not taste like chicken piccata at all. It was swimming in mushrooms and there was no lemon taste at all. My husband had the lasagna and he said the sauce tasted like canned sauce (like Ragu). The portions were a good size though. Overall, very disappointed.
Italian grill, my foot. My family and I just moved down from the north east. My wife is from the pulgia part of Italy and we decided to have take out from Mimmo’s Italian Grill. a last minute decision might I add. This may have been the worst italian meal I have had in a very long time. The food was filled with garlic and if you are used to proper italian food that is not the way it is served most dishes have a little garlic for flavoring and is taken out of the dish before served. I will recommend people never to go there for a meal. As a matter of fact I have never written a review and the food was so bad I decided to write one. I truly think this restaurant would be better off going out of business rather than serving what ever this is.
Though the marinara sauce was the best-the accompanying calamari was disappointing-totally over breaded-not sure of it was factory done or in-house.
So good and so real. You will enjoy this place
Culinary Euphoria!. I was in Vero on business, and my associate and I decided to get a bite to eat before hitting I95 for the trip home. Unsure of where to eat, we decided to eat at the first non-chain place that we found… and were we glad we did!We started with the beef minestrone, which was exceptional. Large chunks of beef and vegetables, with an incredible flavor. While we were working on our soups, our wonderful server, Kayla, brought a basked of garlic-parmesan bread… I honestly can’t say that I’ve ever had bread as good as this…. it was phenomenal! The bread had the perfect balance of a soft but chewy interior, and a crispy crust, and we found out that it’s baked fresh in the restaurant daily. We must have gone through four baskets of bread!Everything on the menu sounded great, and I was extremely excited that they use fresh pasta, also made in the restaurant! Unable to come to a decision, I told Kayla to surprise me, while my associate ordered their special, the grouper with angel hair pasta. When Kayla brought our dishes, it didn’t take long to realize that we were again in for a treat. My surprise was the Chicken Antonio… lightly breaded and pan-fried chicken, served over fettucini with a fresh tomato, green pepper and olive sauce. I’ve had dishes that have started out tasting really great, but the effect dulls as the dish progresses… not so with this… each bite was at least as good as the previous. My associate was quite pleased with his grouper, which was a good healthy serving, cooked to perfection and sauced with lemon and oil.Not wanting our experience to end, we decided to each get a cannoli… which we again found out were made fresh daily, and filled on demand. The result? A perfectly crispy cannoli shell, that offered a good resistance, but still surrendered easily to the fork. And the filling was bar none the best I’ve ever had. Most places tend for overly-sweet cannoli filling, rather than staying with the traditional recipe, so as to please the American palate. Their cannolis were perfection on a plate… a perfect balance of sweet and savory, and was perfectly silky, not grainy like many others’.I’m not sure when I’ll be in Vero Beach again, but if I don’t have a reason to go there soon, I’ll likely head back down just to visit Italian Grill again… it was culinary euphoria defined!
I have been coming to the Italian grill with friends and family for several years. I would say one of my favorite things that the restaraunt offers is that they cater to the customers specific needs. Most restaurants you go to have pre made dishes and you can’t substitute or remove items from the dishes. Not at the Italian grill everything is made to order which is great for people who have allergies and/or are picky eaters like myself. My aunt has an allergy to glucose and we asked our waitress what she could have the cooks make up for my aunt and they came out with a marvelous dish and it even had chicken. Most Italian restaurants don’t offer anything besides a mere house salad without any croutons. And not to mentchion the friendly and helpful wait staff and hostesses. They are willing to accomidate you the best way they can. I recommend this restaurant 100% to anyone.
Good food The outside looks like a cheap little no good restaurant, but its much better. But you can get some of the same stuff at carabas.
