Terrible sevice, low end food. The manager actually called the police when I refused to pay for one of the meals that was overdone twice.I was with my wive,my newborn and my 17 yr old daughter.I tried to be cool but he would not remove anything from the ticket,so it got settled outside where the police told him to remove the food from the ticket and then we left. What a hassle on St.Pattys night!! I have been in the restaurant business for years and I have never been treated like this guy acted, thought I was gonna have to fight my way out!!

I don’t usually leave negative reviews. If I’m dissatisfied I usually just won’t go back. However this experience left me both angry , sad and a bit hopeful all at the same time. Too often people of color are told we’re being too sensitive or overacting. That we’re playing the race card or over reaching or we imagined racist or biased behavior . Well I know and so do most people of color, generally that isn’t the case. My friends today ( both of whom are white and regulars ) got to see firsthand how differently we are addressed and treated. So the one positive is, if nothing else it served as a teachable moment. A glimpse inside for what some of us is a daily occurrence .This is the Yelp Review:Just had one of the worse dining experiences ever . I met my friend there for lunch . Ordered a roll and after eating two noticed that there was a long black hair entwined in rice . I immediately let the waitress know . She took the plate and showed it to the chef who had blonde streaks in his hair . He told her , it’s not mine and looked back at me . I have dark hair … anyways the manager never spoke to me directly . He never even came to the table . He asked me from a distance away what I wanted to do . I told him nothing , that I did not want a replacement .I thought that was the end of it . Soon after my friends daughter joins us . She orders a soup … you guessed it , there’s a hair in it . Now the manager wants to get involved . He comes over yelling that this has never happened before , no less at the same table . The whole time he is looking at me . Mind you I already have my check for ice tea and soup . I asked him to calm down and to acknowledge that there was an issue .. He again said while looking directly at me that this had never happened before . So I asked him if he was suggesting that one of us put the hair in the roll and now the soup . His words , well they are regulars so I have to take their words . So because I’m not a regular I don’t matter ? Moreso to suggest I put the hair in both the roll and the soup ? I told him that he owed us all an apology and to bring it down a notch because he is still yelling but only when speaking to me . So my friends daughter tells him , it really was in my soup . He apologizes to her .I asked him why was he extra loud with me , he said because you show me no respect . By this time I’m furious and a bit embarrassed . It is obvious to everyone at the table that he is treating me differently , as a woman of color I didn’t get the same benefit of the doubt . My friend tries to tell him this and he refuses to acknowledge any wrong doings . By this time I’m just ready to go . I leave a tip and proceed to leave .Btw , the waitress was horrible as well . Yet I still left a tip . As I’m leaving . He tells my friend that had I said one more word he would have called the cops ! On whom ? Me for being mistreated ? I should have called the health department. ..yet I still remained dignified and took the high road. I had heard horror stories about this place yet still gave it a chance . Not only is it unsanitary . It is also bias towards people of color . Needles to say I will not be going back . If you decide to give them a try . I suggest inspecting your food in front of the help or management , furthermore of you are a person of color . Avoid it at all costs .

A fast favorite of my children, we have been to Takura over a dozen times since moving to the Vero Beach area. Whether it be the hostess, our server, Hibachi chef, or the manager – it’s five star service each and every time. Delicious food and huge portions, we are always taking something home. Whether it’s our kids taking home some of their kids Hibachi meal (they always order Shrimp) or the parents who can never seem to finish a complete meal, dinner means guaranteed leftovers in the Lewis household. The current manager – Louis – constantly exceeds expectations. Although not a popular drink at Takura, Louis sends a staff member to Publix for fresh mint when I order that late night Mojito. Mojito is – apparently – not on the menu, but Takara has always gone out of their way to make the drink when ordered. So much so that when making reservations, I’m asked what I will be drinking upon arrival.Clean restrooms and clean restaurant. Plenty of parking and great location on U.S. 1 in Vero Beach, Florida. My ONLY suggestion when visiting Takara is to make a reservation. The place is always busy and always packed. If you do not make reservations, expect a long wait. Reservations ensure quick seating – we have never waited more than a few minutes from our actual reservation time when calling ahead.Other Japanese steakhouses do not compare to Takara in the Vero Beach area. Great Hibachi – great sushi – and an overall great experience. Five stars to Takara./s/ William E. Lewis Jr., Vero Beach, Florida.

This is simply the best Japanese steakhouse in the area. I have been to both Kobe’ in Orlando, and this is better. The Steak and scallops were amazing.
