  FABULOUS!!. I never post reviews, but after reading the negative review on here, I felt like I needed to post… Caribbean Catering catered our wedding back in 2005 and Debbie was WONDERFUL to work with and the food was incredible!! We had originally hoped to have our wedding at Pierre’s but instead opted to rent a huge, gorgeous house on the water that was able to host many of our friends and family for a week for the price of what we would have paid for a few hours at Pierre’s. The thing was, we LOVED the food at Pierre’s and were beyond THRILLED to discover that the chefs at Caribbean were formerly chefs at Pierre’s and had created some of our favorite dishes there. I consider myself a bit detail-oriented (read: micro-manager) and a foodie, and never had any problem working easily with Debbie. And we weren’t necessarily the easiest group – we had meat-eaters, vegetarians, and vegans in our mix – and we had no problem working with Debbie to craft a really wonderful menu. We were able to enjoy incredibly superb food, and have a gorgeous event! They even packed up the leftovers of all of that wonderful food and filled the fridge in our rental house and we all dined like kings on their fantastic food for several more days!! A year later, I emailed her to get her advice on how to make one of our favorite dishes for our anniversary – not only did she email me back directions on how to make it, she shipped me a bottle of the sweet thai chili sauce that they use in the dish! 5-stars!!!

  Unfriendly Service. I recently got married in Islamorada and met with Debbie at Caribbean Catering as a possible caterer. Her prices were reasonable, based on what else I saw in the region (though, there is not much competition). However, the meeting process was not without problems. Debbie does not seem particularly flexible. If you do not have much in the way of ideas or opinions, I would imagine you could hand your event over to her and be confident it will be executed competently. But, if you try to do things differently than she’s used to, she will not even entertain the possibility. She was, for instance, unwilling to offer appetizer stations for our cocktail hour, insisting on passed hors d’oeurves only. She would not offer a tasting of the main course, something that’s standard in event planning. She can be a bit prickly to deal with, often rude. Also, she will constantly answer her phone during your meeting and make you seem as if you and your fianc are a nuisance. She bills herself a wedding coordinator but won’t even handle something as simple as putting placecards out in alphabetical order. Bottom line: Overall, I was not impressed and I did not choose her to cater our event. I am glad because I have read other reviews and believe she would have been rather difficult to deal with during the entire wedding process.
