Still excellent lo these many years later --. This place is apparently a mainstay along the Overseas Highway. It looks to have gone a bit more upscale…

Disappointed. My husband and I went to dinner. We were placed in the back room. They were set up for a large party who showed up and ruined our meal. They were very nice but their party attitude was not what we were there for. We NEVER. Should have been assigned that room!! Very disappointed.
What a nice surprise! They remodeled a number of years ago but the last time I was here was in their old building back in the early 70’s. So glad we stopped. Especially like their small plates menu. Had their hearts of palm salad and their lobster mac n cheese. Both excellent. Mac n cheese had nice chunks of lobster, very creamy, al dente pasta, sprinkled on top with panko crumbs. Good size serving. My husband had their beet salad with goat cheese followed by their pork belly — crispy, smoked and meaty over shredded fennel, carrots, etc. with key west truffle honey served with a small sweet crisp cornbread round. Will definitely be back.PS my husband’s wine by the glass was a healthy pour.
Aside from the wait. To be fair, we arrived at shift change from lunch to dinner, but had to wait a good bit for our food, which is never fun with a hungry five year old. Service was really slow from getting drink to the check. I would have ordered desset, but by the time the waitress came back to see if we wanted some, I was just ready to go. BUT – my food was tasty, really tasty. The decor was cool and I liked the historic feel of the place. The collard greens were done by someone who knows what he’s doing, and my kid loved his pizza. SO, I would go back and I like it, but maybe I’d go at a different time!
Very disappointed. Several people recommended Green Turtle to us, so we went for lunch one day. The server was friendly and did a nice job, but the menu was uninspired and the food was mediocre at best. I ordered lobster bisque which seemed to be creamy tomato soup from a can with tiny bits of something (was it really lobster?) My husband’s fries were cold. We may give it another try for breakfast, but won’t go back for lunch or dinner.
Marginal at best…. We had heard this was a great place for breakfast but not so much for dinner. I got the ahi tuna dinner that was a fabulous presentation until you saw what was served on. The tuna was over green peppers and onions (like carnival food) and oh sliced heart of palm. There was not even a carb to complete the meal so it really just seemed like a $30 over-sized appetizer. Another person in our party got the lobster lasagna and he said it tasted like scrambled eggs on the top…he did send it back and got the ahi tuna and agreed that the peppers and onions were not the best compliment to the meal. I would like to try it for breakfast the next time I am down there.
Went for lunch and it was a nice, clean place. The staff were friendly, not extremely fast service but not horribly slow. Well priced for the area. Food was delicious!
Not worth the wait.
