We ordered Sweet Teas, Calimari, Big Shrimper, and the Hog Fish Special. Enjoyed it all. I couldn’t finish the BIG shrimper. Looking forward to returning next time. Service was fast and great with the kids. Great family atmosphere.
Skip this one. Service was great. Food was a big disappointment. On the way back to Miami from Key West, we were craving some good seafood. Ordered fried fish which was over-breaded and sort of tasted like the freezer.
Great Food, Good Service. This is a great place to eat, the food is delicious, service is always prompt and friendly and best of all, it’s very reasonably priced. I would recommend the Thai Shrimp Cesar Wrap it comes w/ slaw and your choice of a side. The Rock Shrimp Po Boy is an excellent choice as well. They have great Happy Hour specials as well.
Improving. The first time I went to the Shrimp Shack we said never again… Well, I went there again for happy hour and ended up getting food; it was so much better. I got the cajun fried shrimp tacos and they were kind of amazing. I think they’re definitely making a turn around for the better as now when I go every so often I’m impressed. Their daily specials are always good. I’d say give it another shot.
Slow Service, Small Portions. The restaurant was not crowded and sometimes it is not hard to figure out why. It took a long time to get seated, to wait on the food, and to wait for the check. It was not worth the wait as the portions were small and we left hungry. I would not recommend.
Looked appealing and had a nice atmosphere. When I looked at the menu I joked to my friend that I hoped the food didn’t look like their menu pictures because it looked hideous. We both offered the shrimp with their specialty house batter and it was hideous. The baskets were small with terrible fries the shrimp was terrible and it was such a small portion that I was still so hungry that I tried to eat the hush puppies which were just terrible. The total bill plus tip for this was $38 and I felt totally ripped off….
Shrimp Shack Yum. I was almost dissuaded from even going here after reading all the reviews, but decided to give ita try to see for myself. I am a semi-local and there are only so many places you can eat in Islamorada withoutgetting repetitive. I am so glad I went! Had the ribs for myself, and they were generous and delicious. My partner had the grilled shrimp over rice. Excellent. The salads were fresh, and the deserts were all good. We tried two, and took one back to our condo. The staff was very friendly. We had a nice waitress and our hostess, her name was Julie or Julia, was so funny and nice. We all liked her. We hope when we come back for the winter, we have the same staff. Can’t wait to see them again. Not only were they friendly, we got suggestions where to fish, shop, do water sports, and even a hairdresser! Come on! Great experience!! If I come back and the meal is blah, I will say so, but I have a feeling it will be above par again.
