One of the best steakhouses I have ever been to in my life. I got the Delmonico steak which was so flavorful and tender. The garlic butter that they put on top of the steak is awesome. The steaks were huge and very filling. We got a side of the mac and cheese and asparagus. Everything was amazing. The mac and cheese was very rich but good. I cannot rave enough about how amazing my steak was. My table got the center cut filet, shrimp and grits, and chicken and pasta dish. Everyone was incredibly satisfied. If you are in Islamorada for dinner and wish to splurge on a meal that is worth it go here!!! Additionally, the martinis are amazing. Did I mention the steak is amazing?
Took my wife for her birthday dinner and, unfortunately, we had a bad experience. Our waiter forgot to place our order, leaving us waiting well over an hour for dinner. The drinks and appetizers took quite a while as well. The food was actually good, but we were just too frustrated to enjoy it.
Do not let the unassuming exterior deceive you – Ziggy and Mad Dog’s is a 4-star, high-end steak-house, but without the oppressively-pretentious overtones. Very expensive but great dining experience nonetheless. The menu is limited, but who cares? Locals eat there at least three times a week – that alone speaks volumes about the place. Staff is impeccably-dressed and the service first-rate. I was not terribly hungry at the time, so I had the Double-Bone Pork-Chop and a beer; the chop was AWESOME! Cannot wait to come back and try a steak. Every item on the menu is HUGE – doggy-bags are essential. Menu is a la carte, with all sides @ $8.00 each – but the portions are huge (!!!). Prepare on spending $120 for two @ minimum, but definitely worth it. I dined solo @ the bar, but the locals chatted with me as if I had been a regular diner@ the restaurant – how cool is that? So go if you love eating huge quantities of massive portions of select meats and seafood – but I recommend that you eat at a leisurely pace (which is encouraged) and just take your leftovers home). Go early or make reservations, though – the place fills up quickly.
Fine dining. Late dinner so we skipped appetizers. Dinners were great. The libations from the bar were citified! My husband asked for an unusual drink & they had it. Loved it!
Fell Well Short Of Expectations. After coming down to The Keys for years, I thought I would deter from the typical fried this and Mahi that and check out Z&M. As the service was fantastic… the food fell soooo short. Lobster Bisque… brown and nasty! Lobster Mac n Cheese tasted like mud… worse. My bone in ribeye.. well Publix sells a better steak! Three of us for dinner last Sunday night [12/9/12] for my son’s bday.. $150 with no drinks. I will pay whatever for great food but I doubt I will ever make this mistake again as I would rather eat the nasty buffet @ Whale Harbor…! YUK
When we walked in the door, we were pleasantly surprised! What a great little place, definitely a favorite. Food is great, service even better. Worth every single penny.
