I am very sad to give Ziggy Mad Dog’s this mediocre rating but I am not going to be polite. In my past experiences, the staff has been very friendly and accommodating. Last night was eye opening. I made reservations for a birthday dinner and was not told that the main dining room was already reserved for those that had specifically asked to be seated there. We walked in promptly at our reservation time and the restaurant was quiet because it was early. We were sat at a table under the vents near the bar facing the kitchen. We asked to be moved and were given a definitive No. So, we left. I feel that if I am going to spend $200 dollars on a dinner, I’d like to be comfortable. Anyone feel differently?
Don’t mistake this place for just another joint.. This is a fine dining establishment. The wine list is off the chart (go for the Joel Gott Cab!) and the steaks are probably the best within 200 miles. Tonight we had phyllo crusted escargot, stone crab legs, shrimp cocktail, and burrata mozzarella salad. The smokiness of the cocktail sauce was out of this world. While this was plenty for us, we also had a steak, and oh my goodness it was delicious! We decided to end the night right with the nut & graham cracker crusted key lime pie and the creme brulee. And, yes, it was priced perfectly for the food quality, preparation, and the exceptional service. I recommend this place for those who like fine dining at its best.
Just be aware that the Lobster bisque tastes like carrots, and not lobster… I mean, its fantastic, but for carrot soup not lobster bisque. Agree with other patrons who said the food is good but not in correlation with the prices.
