I love this place! It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but they’re food is delicious.
Best real meal I’ve had in a long time. We had ribs and fried chicken. Delectable! Meat comes with 3 sides. All were great. Had green beans, yams, ocra, fries which were great. Mac and cheese, not so much. The chicken is to die for and the ribs sure hit the spot. Enjoyed the relaxed kitchen feeling. As if you were at a friends kitchen. Bon appetite!
Great Food. My family and I just discovered Uncle Gene’s about 2 months ago and we’ve gone back a few times since and will continue to go on a regular basis. The food has been outstanding every time. If you want authentic home cooked soul food you need to visit Uncle Gene’s. My personal favorite is the Meat plus Three combo. I go with the Fried Pork chops that are absolutely incredible and cooked right every time. My sides are usually the greens, yellow rice with gravy, and candied yams. The ensemble is completed with a great tasting corn bread muffin. For desert I would recommend the peach cobbler or sweet potato pie. I would recommend you make your way to Uncle Gene’s and find out for yourself.
Good place to Go!. A diamond in this city. It is off the beaten path (beyond the powers/university intersection). The food is authentic. I had the hamburger, and it was one of the best hamburgers I have had in a while!I work right around the corner, so I plan on indulging in their food more often.I want to try their garlic shrimp/crab. So far, the burger and fries are the best. I will update more later when I try them in a few days.
