One of my very favorite places to eat breakfast or lunch, hands down. The service can be slow, but the food makes up for it completely. The Greek menu…

I love Greek salads. This diner has great Greek salads, but once again I am disappointed. Every time I go there sometimes they don't put the onions in…

Headed up A1A after spending a couple of days at a high end golfing resort (not our cup of tea but there for business)…. going to hang out on Amelia Island for a few days… it’s Sunday morning and my wife wants breakfast and some eggs…. everything is strip malls, fast food and chains…. then by chance we see the ‘3rd street’… looks interesting, number of cars in the lot and an open sign: older lady shows us to our booth… did take a few minutes longer than I prefer for a server to come but then out beverages came pretty fast and the food took about 10 minutes… but was outstanding, I had steak and eggs, the steak would have been disappointing for an evening meal but was fine for breakfast (thin) but was actually cooked medium rare the way I asked… interesting note… wife ordered rye toast, I ordered wheat and it came on one plate but the server (waitress) set in down with the breads facing the right way. Wife’s bloody mary was top of the line…. seemed to be a local place on the main road to us… no one yelled at the help either…. would go back if near there. Oh, the grits were outstanding too… not some yankeefied instant, but real. Place seemed exceptionally clean for a local diner to me.
Walked out. As soon as we saw how abusive the owners were to the servers, we knew what we were dealing with. Outta there!!! It’s a shame these lovely hardworking women have to come to such an environment to earn half a buck!!!

Worst service EVER. We’re visiting from out of state and we’re looking for a spot for dinner. The outside of the restaurant looked cool so we thought we’d give it a try. That’s where the good stops. As soon as we walked in a server was going to seat us but a man, I’m assuming the owner, pretty much barked at her that he’d do it. He seated us without any sort of word to me and my two children. We sat for 10 minutes before anyone even came to take a drink order. People who came in well after us got their drinks before we did. The server we had was very kind and finally took our drink order and dinner order. 10-15 additional minutes later, still no drinks. The place was about 1/3 full and the few severs there were hustling around getting other people’s food and drinks. The owner seemed to be more occupied with watching over them and entertaining people that appeared to be regulars there. A waitress other than our own came over and said it would be a little bit longer. I said, loud enough for the whole place to hear, that we still didn’t even have our drinks. I then questioned the folks in the next booth and they said they’d never seen the service so bad before. At this point I stood up, grabbed my kids, told the owner we were leaving and we were gone. Crappy, crappy, CRAPPY service. CRAPPY. This guy has no business being in business bc his attitude stinks. I feel bad for the servers. They ran their asses off while this guy stood around and barked out orders. Oh, I forgot to mention there were dirty dishes piled up on the counter and our table and booth could have been wiped off a little better. Horrible customer service. I wouldnt even send a roach in there to eat.
FIVE STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Genuine excellent greek food!. I’m from NY. I’m not Greek but I know the food. I confess it’s my favorite.. if I lived near this restaurant I would eat there everyday. The decor is on spot for the typical 40’s and 50’s era diner decor. The lady told me they had only been there 11 yrs. My wife and I were in J’ville on a biz’ trip and stumbled in there looking for the beach (which is very hard to find mainly because both my droid and her iphone acted crazy using gps) but I can honestly say I loved it and so did my wife. GREAT food and a HUGE selection of homemade baked goods. Some people go to a Florida beach town expecting to land in OZ, when in reality it’s a tough place to make a living considering today’s economy and the fact that the labor force is usually 20 something pot head party peeps. Medium prices and awesome menu. It’s not disneyland. Go to the monopolies if you’re skeered!
Horrible food, service and place. What else can i say ,everything was awful
NOT PLANNING ON A RETURN VISIT. Had out of town guests that wanted to have breakfast at the 3rd St. diner. Arrived a little before 8 AM with no one else in the diner. Shortly after we placed our order another couple arrived and shortly after that a gentleman arrived. After our long wait the gentleman’s food arrived — over 10 minutes after that our meals finally arrived. When asked how is it that the gentleman’s meal was served first when we were the first to arrive. Waitress gave the excuse that all the meals needed to be prepared at once and the cook (who is also the owner) told her to take out his order first. Didn’t buy the excuse that all the meals needed to be cooked at once since there was at least a ten minute wait for ours after he was served. Obviously the owner needs to improve his business and customer service skills. Oh – and did I mention the food was NOT worth the wait.
