Jupiter Visitor. The food was average at best, and was priced out of sight high! I was warned about this place being a rip-off joint, but shame on me. I tried it anyway, and was quickly made aware of the reason my Boston friends had said it was not good. The worst part of our experience was our encounter with the arrogant and rude manager who asked us to hurry up and leave our table so he could seat others who were waiting in line. We were still finishing our drinks and paying our tab when he rushed us out the door. This was really an awful meal experience.

Clam Strips bring back heavenly memories……. Chowder Heads could not ask for a better location in Driftwood Plaza on US1 in Jupiter. So close to the ocean you can smell the salt in the air. We had been by many times but never stopped and our first visit was with friends who selected it for dinner that evening. Friendly service that night and every time I have been since. The ambiance and vibe for a New England seafood house is excellent and the staff is very accommodating. On that first visit it was a beautiful evening and we opted for a table outside overlooking the tropical landscaping and outdoor dining area of an adjoining restaurant. Great setting, a cold beer, good friends. Living in paradise indeed. The first thing I tried was a clam strip appetizer and I was hooked. I am not a lover of clams, lobster yes, but clams no. However, as a young boy we made frequent trips to the local Howard Johnson’s on fried clam night as my dad LOVED them. He loved them, so I loved them and we made pigs out of ourselves on a regular basis when the calendar rolled around to all you can eat fried clam night at Howard Johnson’s. They were delicious and if you do not know the history of fried clams and Howard Johnson’s it is an interesting one.So, over the years I have tried fried clams and never have I tasted anything that reminded me of those meals so many years ago. I became accustomed to fried strips of something that didn’t taste like anything I remembered. Until that night on the patio at Chowder Heads. A quick dip in their amazing tarter sauce and instantly I was transported back decades by the flavor I had not tasted since then. My father has been gone almost 14 years and just like that I could see us sitting together at Howard Johnson’s eating fried clams. They were that good and the memory priceless. They were so good I opted for a platter with more with fried fish, fried scallops and fried onion strings. All were decent, the onion strings were excellent. I have to admit that I do not dig fried food like I used to so please keep that in mind. But those clams have driven me back quite a few times and when they are cooked perfectly there is nothing better. The same with the onion strings when they are on they are on as good as you will find. But they are not always on and I have had both cooked too long, or not long enough so it can be a bit of hit or miss. If I was rating Chowderheads on fried clams, onion strings and tarter sauce and they were cooked perfectly this place would get a hands down 5 star rating. But it doesn’t as I have tried the lobster bisque which I found to be mediocre. I have tried the lobster rolls and wasn’t a fan. For a $20 lunch sandwich I want fresh out of the shell flavor which I have not had. I don’t do clam chowder so can’t comment, have not tried their crab cake so can’t comment. When the fried clam strips are on they are truly memorable. But they aren’t always on. But you will still find me sneaking back in periodically in hopes of bringing back those childhood memories.

AUTHENTIC NEW ENGLAND FOOD. Best place out of New England for Chowder, Clams, Lobster, desserts all cooked the correct way like Mom or Grandma made. Take out also.

Delicious food, fantastic place!. I discovered Chowder Heads about a year ago & go back frequently. I grew up in Boston & have missed great New England seafood. I LOVE the clam chowder and the whole belly fried clams, it’s just like up north. Another of my favorites in the pan seared haddock, flaky white fish that melts in your mouth, so good. The management says it’s because the fish is flown in from Boston every other day so it’s never frozen. I’ve tried just about every dish on the menu now & have never been disappointed. I definitely recommend this place. It’s small but comfy, homey & friendly staff.

Best chowder, clam rolls and scallops in the land! Lauren (#5 but really #1) is the best. The way she serves the chowder is so hot; and such fabulous hair; like a dream! Everyone there is over the top and ambiance and food great. Cold beer and GO SOX!

First time love the Restaurant. First visit to Chowder Heads knew as soon as I saw the Boston Red Sox and Old New England memorabilia on the walls I was home. Greeted by a friendly waitress sat us answered by question about the fried clams and chowder knew I was in for a treat here Jupiter. And was I surprised my plate came full of treasures from the sea cooked exactly the way fried seafood should lightly brown not over or under cooked my hats off to the chef. Spent of an hour enjoying the food and atmosphere of this lovely Cap Cod Old Maine styled restaurant . All the plates of food I saw were just what I would expect to see back home. Plan on making this my number 1 place to dine out every week . Good portions , cooked exactly right , fair prices considering its shipped fresh everyday from Northern cold waters means a lot to me. Plenty of tasty lobster on the menu and the beer and wine to go with it.
