My first taste of Cuban food. This may come as a surprise, but Cuban food used to be a lot more difficult to find in Miami! I grew up on Key Biscayne, and aside from the occasional pilgrimage to 8th street, there wasn’t any convenient Cuban food… until the Oasis came along. I have fond childhood memories of the Oasis- this is where I had my first masas de puerco and morros. I recently visited and took my wife to the stand-up counter for a quick lunch after visiting the beach, and it was just like stepping back in time. Nothing has changed at the Oasis… the same great food, fast service, hectic atmosphere, and I think the same employees. This is good simple Cuban food.
