Breakfast?. Can’t give an up or down vote. Really wanted to because we heard great things about the place. But we showed up at the apparently too-early hour of 10:30 for breakfast and were told through they door they didn’t open until 11. I realize this is a restaurant in The Keys — but doesn’t 11 actually make it lunch?

Missing on a few details. We looking for a special place to have dinner in Key West for the one night we were there and walked by Blackfin and decided to give it a shot. The atmosphere is wonderful and the back patio is easy to relax in and the wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. Huge wine selection and about 12 bottled beers and of course a nice menu of gulf seafood. The waitress unfortunately knew nothing about the beer list and I was looking for something with a fair bit of hops. I know they specialize in wine but if they sell beer the staff should know something or at least bring someone to the table who does. The scallop special was the best part of the meal and the bisque was quite nice as well. So the appetizers got us off on a good impression from the kitchen. Unfortunately the entrees were both a bit over done (a shrimp dish and a grouper filet) and the grouper wasn’t completely cleaned of bones. All in all the flavor was nice but the over cooked fish and shrimp were just a little chewy for a restaurant this nice. Overall it seems like if you order the right things you can come away with a good experience but we feel everything on the menu should be cooked correctly.
Food was excellent. Great presentation on all plates. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Can’t go wrong with the food.
Food was amazing. Ate there two nights because the hogfish special was so good. Creme brle is not to be missed– perfectly prepared. Servers pleasant and knowledgable. Atmosphere casual but upscale. A totally pleasant experience. Give it a try!
We went for lunch. Very attentive service, but miniscule portions. Ordered grilled mahi mahi and the size of the fish was no bigger than a single Dorito chip. There were more bites of bun than fish which is so unacceptable especially with the price they were charging. Their neighbor, the La Te Da, has a much better blackened fish reuben if you’re looking for a good fish sandwich.
Great Lunch. Had a chance to spend a great afternoon lunch at Blackfin Bistro. Grilled fresh fish sandwich was outstanding. Went back for dinner two nights later and enjoyed an outstanding meal for two at a very resonable price.Servers were very helpgul and attentive.
