  Best place for the right price. Very good French food in a garden….a place close to the paradise at this price in Key West.

  Worst Place in Key West. !!! AVOID!!!I have been going to Key West for years and this place is by far the worst ever. We stopped in there as a resting spot before visiting the museum next door.Our first clue should have been the fact that no one else was there, despite it being the high season and the cruise ship was in port. Second clue should have been that the waitress attempted to run out and flag people to come in from off the tour bus. Plenty of places in Key West have people waiting to get in, bad bad sign if you have to beg people.I ordered a rum runner and water while my boyfriend ordered a margarita. Service was fast, no surprise since we were the only ones there. Once she dropped off the drinks, she avoided our table like the plague and we soon figured out why. The drinks were either from a horrible pre mix or going bad. I suspect there was little to no alcohol in them at all. They were so bad, we took a few sips and were unable to finish them. It took hours to get the horrid taste out of my mouth. I finally managed to get the waitress to come over and give us the check. It was then I realized why she didn’t bother giving any service. She had included 18% gratuity!!! I typically tip at min 20% but I was aghast she had included it and NO WHERE was it posted that they do that there. Nor that they are cash only. When I requested that she remove the gratuity, she copped a serious attitude, claiming that EVERY place in Key West does that. I informed her that no, they do not and in fact this is the first time this had ever happened to me and we come here a few times a year. Even the A&B Lobster house doesn’t do that (unless you have a large party and it’s clearly stated on the menu). She did remove it but continued to harass me about it. With so many better places in Key West, I am astounded this place is still in business.

  DON’T EAT HERE!!! Conch fritters were yucky, lousy, and tasteless! Unless you like kitchen grease!!! To add insult to injury they slyly add 15% gratuity to bill in stealth mode and don’t mention it! Please try someplace else. This was our first place so I can’t recommend alternative!

  Avoid at all cost. I am in my mid thirties and I have never had the urge to dine and dash till our visit to cafe tropical. I paid 7.95 for a cuban sandwich that consisted of american cheese, 1 slice of turkey lunch meat, 1 slice of ham lunch meat and pickles. I have literally had better sandwiches come from the refrigerated section of a gas station. If I had it to do over again I would have left before taking the first bite. So far I have spent 3 days in Key West, and it has been my only bad dining experience.
