My husband and I stopped by here for breakfast on our way out of town. The restaurant was very quaint and quite right near the water front. Our waitress was the sweetest lady ever. She was very friendly and chit-chatted for a bit. My husband ate the corn-beef and hash with Rye Bread and I had the tomato, feta and fresh spinach omelette with home fries and rye bread. Everything was fresh and served quickly. This is a cash only joint but don’t worry the prices are very reasonable! You won’t be disappointed 🙂
Cash only! Only found this out after I ate & was paying my bill.Since I had no cash I had to use my credit card on the ATM they havein the Restaurant and it charged me $3.50!!! I know how ATM’s work and know Harpoon Harry’s owners get money for all transactions. My bank is only a block and a half from my studio & I would have gone there first if I knew the deal….but who doesn’t take credit cards in this day & age??? Heck, even I can take credit cards from anyone, anywhere.I felt totally ripped off!Great food and I ran into a friend I hadn’t seen since 1996, but my happiness was dulled by this rip off deal they have going. That $3.50 they got from me is the last money they will ever get from me. I was figuring on making it my regular lunch spot now that I am working long hours. I won’t tell tourists about them either like I have been doing.Shame on you guys!
Perfect Late Sunday Morning Breakfast (cash only!). I stopped by Harpoon Harry’s for a late morning breakfast. I was a single as my friend was busy writing a college paper. The staff quickly cleaned off a small booth for me as the place was quite busy. I ordered coffee and and ice water which they kept filled. I decided to order one of the breakfast specials, Crab Cake Benedict. The Crab Cake Benedict comes with either grits or home fries and I requested the home fries. When my breakfast arrived it tasted as good as it looked. The staff was friendly, courteous and efficient. Harpoon Harry’s is now on my list of places to eat as I travel to Key West frequently for work. (Note – there is an ATM at the front of the restaurant. Today their ATM was out of order so I went across the street to the grocery store to use their ATM.)
The food was great an the people were wonderful
Thank you. It’s good to see, that certain things don’t change.Very friendly staff, no waitingtime to be served, wide choice of breakfasts (and they serve espresso!).We enjoyed every Breakfast we had @ Harpoon Harry’s (12-31-2013 – 01-02-2014)
COuntry po boy was great
Good Glorified Diner. Reminds me of a lot of other diners in Florida that cater to folks with a Northern Heritage. Don’t get me wrong but if grits were on the menu other than in the form of shrimp and grits, I missed it.That said, the food is excellent and service is very good. Atmosphere is kind of worn diner but what good diner isn’t.My wife had the Cinamon Raisin French Toast with a side of Fruit. Excellent choice becuase the fruit was very fresh and more than just melon and grapes. I had the Country Style Steak and Gravy with Eggs on the side, Granted the Steak was slightly overcooked but still very good and flavorful. Eggs were perfect.Highpoint was the coffee. Coffee was excellent. Good and strong with a fresh robust flavor. Definately a restaurant strong point. For breakfast, a definate recommendation for anyone in the area. It’s also right off of the trolley so easy to get to and about a 2 – 3 block walk to Mallory Sq.
