Been coming here for 20 years. Like most of Key West service is island style. Don’t worry be happy. Venue is all outdoors so it is always hot and sticky. Has gotten more expensive over the years but what hasn’t. Food still good. Lots of weird interesting locals or wannabes hanging around. Great location on the harbor. Buy a souvenir hat. I have 2 and quality is great. One of mine is 15 years old and faded but survives many washings and beach/ocean outings and is like new except the color.
Bartenders attitude and price
Great food, awful service.. Went for happy hour and while there were great deals we could not even get a waitress over to our table. One of us had to bring a waitress over to our table to go get our actual waitress. Once she came over she did not introduce herself and had a nasty attitude. She seemed inebriated, could not remember who got what and then messed up our checks horribly. Such a shame because the atmosphere, live music and food were great.
We had an awesome time at Schooners! Brook is the best, our favorite bartender in the Keys! The food, drinks, and live music was all great!
I’d rate 5 out of 10. Server was fine but my $17 fried shrimp dinner was less than $17 worth. I had 8 fried medium sized shrimp and a plate full of greasy fries. The shrimp had not been cleaned (huge sand track in the shrimp-yuck) and some of the shrimp were shelled so fast that some of the shell remained. Nothing comes with the food- no cole slaw, no lemon, just cocktail sauce. To be honest, I’ve had waaaay better shrimp platters at Captain D’s. Hey, just being honest.
Like most great places in paradise, expect to wait little. It is absolutely worth it!!
