Turtle Kraals Tower Bar was highly recommended as a great place to watch the sunset. Well, it would have been if not for the massive hotels blocking the view. Oh well, the ambiance was still nice as the sun went down. Very relaxed atmosphere and the service was top notch. Unfortunately the food wasn’t as great. We started with the Conch Fritters. They were nicely seasoned, but most of the conch was too rubbery. The dipping sauce was really good though. The Tipsy Turtle was tasty, but greatly lacking on the tipsy. My husband ordered the lobster, shrimp, and crab cake. The lobster was quite small, and there were only 3 shrimp. They were both overcooked. The crab cake was large and cooked well, but so spicy that he couldn’t eat it.I had the fish and chips. The fish was very tender and tasty, but the seasoning was quite spicy and the coating was quite tough. The chips were very good.As I said, service was top notch. Joey was a fantastic server. Very attentive and friendly. The staff noticed the uneaten crab cake and questioned my husband. We weren’t looking for anything, but they offered to make him something else and wanted to make sure he didn’t leave hungry. They even sent the manager over and she insisted on taking 20% off the bill. We didn’t ask for that, but it was greatly appreciated.

Ate with wife and daughter. We sat on the roof, nice view of harbor. Decent selection of local beers on tap. Had the nikkei ceviche. It was terrific. Great mix of Asian flavor and spice. My wife had the steamed shrimp, typical shrimp. My daughter had the crab cakes, they were above average. I would definitely return.

Excellent food all around. The black bean soup, fish tacos, red beans and coconut rice and chicken salad on arepas all exceptional. Great island feel. You must come and try it.

Loved this place! I went looking for stone crab and most everyone else was out, except this place and the prices were reasonable! Try the ceviche flight, sure not to disappoint. Great service, wish I had gotten the waitress’s name.

We were expecting great ceviche at turtle kraals but got nothing close. The steamed shrimp was tasteless and they managed to murder good seafood. The best part of the meal was the stale popcorn that was served with the ceviche. Are you kidding me? The service was bad and to top it off it was pricey.

Bad food, overpriced drinks. While the view of the dinghy dock is interesting (there’s nothing like watching a bunch of scruffy liveaboards trying to coax their past-prime dinghy engines to life for 45 minutes), the restaurant has taken a downhill dive in a big way. While once it was a lively place for locals, now it’s just a common tourist ‘joint’. The menu looked interesting and so we gave it a try. This was the first time since the new owner, Pat Croce, took over. His other restaurants in town are quite bad, but we thought perhaps he’d do something fresh with this one. We were just so wrong! The actual execution of the menu items is a disaster in general. We were in initially encouraged by the fresh guacamole, but it went downhill quickly after that. The food was dry, tasteless and a true waste of money. The horrible house wine was undrinkable. The desert! It was the worst nightmare ever!We simply cannot recommend this place.

Always good…. I love good BBQ and this place has the rib thing down perfect. Always a fun setting and have never gotten anything bad. Service is good and staff is friendly. Have come back every trip to KW. Thanks for another good meal and another great trip to Key West.
