Had the fried shrimp and fish – shrimp had a nice taste but not alot offered – fish was supposed to be Pollock but not sure if it was and not a good taste. Crab legs ok but washed out.
We tried to eat here back in May on a trip to Orlando, but they had just moved to the new location and had a long wait, so we opted out then since we were traveling. On this trip to Jacksonville, we had plenty of time, so gave it another try, which we probably should not have done. They were not very busy, so we were seated immediately. I opted for the grilled shrimp and scallops, and my wife opted for just the grilled shrimp. I have never had grilled shrimp that was soaked down in some kind of weird tasting brown sauce. I think it was their attempt at some kind of Polynesian sauce, which the menu said nothing about. We were not impressed, and certainly wont be going out of our way in the future to eat here. Red Lobster is a lot better if that is any comparison
We went for lunch on a Monday. they were fairly busy but our waitress was very attentive. We ordered scallops, shrimp and flounder. The seafood could have used a little more seasoning but was good overall. We also substituted a side for a salad and clam chowder, both of which were good and were good portions. For $29 I feel we were satisfied and would go back.
Probably should not pair River with Seafood. Passing thru LC, stopped for Friday night dinner. Service was prompt and attentive. However, the food was mediocre at best, nothing distinctive and a few things disappointing. We started with grilled stuffed mushrooms, the stuffing was bland. Clam chowder was ok, but extremely hot while the seafood bisque was lukewarm. The green beans were the large flat institutional variety with no flavor. Cole slaw was acceptable. The broiled sea scallops were just a bit bigger than bay scallops and had little scallop flavor and were cooked through, but remained mushy. The stuffed salmon was truly disappointing. The salmon did not have the delicate flavor of salmon, but simply tasted like any ol fish. The stuffing had no flavor and while it said topped with butterfly shrimp, it was a single small shrimp cut in half and placed on top of the stuffing of each of the salmon fillets. Portions were good size.
Saw this building out of the corner of my eye while driving thru Lake City. Fish was fresh, not frozen and affordable. Glad I stopped. Will be back if ever in Lake City again
Always full, all you can eat, shrimp, real grouper, stuffed flounder, and way you like it same price. Baked, fried, broiled. Nice staff, clean bathrooms, good prices fast fresh tasting, and served very hot. So if you like seafood and don’t want to catch, clean, cook your own then try it.8 out of 10
